Bushwick Starr
The Bushwick Starr is a non-profit theater in the Brooklyn neighborhood of the same name that was founded in 2007 by Sue Kessler and Noel Allain who serve as the creative and artistic director, respectively. They were located on Starr Street until 2020 when their space was sold and they announced the purchase of and relocation to a former dairy plant at 419 Eldert Street. The Starr is known for its artists, including Jeremy O. Harris, Daniel Fish, Dave Malloy, and Heather Christian. Daniel Fish is an American theater director based in New York City. Early career Daniel Fish graduated from Northwestern University with a BS in performance studies. From 1989 to 1993 he worked as the assistant director to Michael Kahn at the Shakespeare Theatre Company. Following this, he freelanced, directing conceptually experimental productions of Molière and Shakespeare, including iconoclastic productions of ''Twelfth Night'' at The Shakespeare Theatre, '' Romeo and Juliet'' at Great Lakes Theater Festival, and ''Tartuffe'' for the Court Theatre. Dave Malloy
Dave Malloy (born January 4, 1976) is an American composer, playwright, lyricist, and actor. He has written several theatrical works, often based on classic works of literature. They include ''Moby-Dick'', an adaptation of Herman Melville's classic novel; ''Octet'', a chamber choir musical about internet addiction; '' Preludes,'' a musical fantasia set in the mind of romantic composer Sergei Rachmaninoff; ''Ghost Quartet'', a song cycle about love, death, and whiskey; and the Tony Award winning ''Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812,'' an electropop opera based on ''War and Peace''. Heather Christian
Heather Christian is an American singer, playwright, and composer best known for 2017's ''Animal Wisdom'' at the Bushwick Starr and ''Oratorio for Living Things'', which ran Off Broadway at Ars Nova in the spring of 2022. Early life Christian was born in New Orleans and raised in Natchez, Mississippi. Growing up, she was involved in children's choir and high school theater. She is a graduate of the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, where she studied experimental theater.
