Burtola Assembly constituency was a Legislative Assembly constituency of Kolkata district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Overview As a consequence of the orders of the Delimitation Commission, Burtola Assembly constituency ceases to exist from 2011. It was part of Calcutta North East (Lok Sabha constituency). Members of the Legislative Assembly Results 1977-2006 Sadhan Pande representing Trinamool Congress won the 158 Burtolla assembly seat defeating Kalyan Mukherjee of RSP in 2006 and 2001. Earlier, Sadhan Pande, representing Congress defeated Parimal Routh of RSP in 1996 and 1991, and Sunil Sengupta of RSP in 1987. Ajit Kumar Panja of Congress defeated Nikhil Das of RSP in 1982. Ajit Kumar Panja
Ajit Kumar Panja (13 September 1936 – 14 November 2008) was a Union minister of state in the Government of India. He was a member of Indian National Congress party but left it to join Trinamool Congress. He was born in Calcutta, and studied law at the Scottish Church College, Calcutta and at the Lincoln's Inn. His Native village was a small village in Burdwan district, named Majigram. A lawyer by profession, he authored many books. He was also a stage actor who enacted the role of Ramakrishna Paramahansa in Kolkata. Life and career Ajit Kumar Panja was born in Kolkata on 13 September 1936. His father was Dhanapati Panja. Kisan Mazdoor Praja Party
The Kisan Mazdoor Praja Party (''Farmer Worker People's Party'') was a political party of India. Established in 1951, it merged with the Socialist Party to form the Praja Socialist Party in the following year. Two of its leaders, Prafulla Chandra Ghosh and Tanguturi Prakasam, had been chief ministers of West Bengal and of Madras respectively. Sadhan Pande
Sadhan Pande (13 November 1950 – 20 February 2022) was an Indian politician who served as Minister for Consumer Affairs & Self Help Group & Self-Employment, Government of West Bengal. He was also an MLA, elected from the Maniktala constituency in the 2011 West Bengal state assembly election. Previously, he was a Congress Leader and six times elected MLA from Burtola till 2011.
