Burt Nodella
Burton Nodella (May 26, 1924 February 23, 2016), also known as Cary Nodella, was an American television producer, most notably for the cult classic ''Get Smart''. World War II The Brooklyn native served in the United States Army in World War II under General George S. Patton Jr., survived conflicts at Omaha Beach, the Battle of the Bulge and lastly helped liberate the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. Career Burt Nodella produced 47 episodes during seasons three and four of the 1960s comedy series ''Get Smart'', wrote a couple of installments and appeared as a KAOS doctor in another. He won two Emmy Awards in 1968 and 1969 for producing the series. He also contributed to '' The Tim Conway Show'' (1970) and CBS Summer Playhouse, as well as various television movies. Personal life In 1946, Nodella attended UCLA where he met Joanne Davis. They married in 1947 and had two children. Get Smart
''Get Smart'' is an American comedy television series parodying the secret agent genre that had become widely popular in the first half of the 1960s, with the release of the ''James Bond'' films. It was created by Mel Brooks and Buck Henry, and had its television premiere on NBC on September 18, 1965. It stars Don Adams (who was also a director on the series) as agent Maxwell Smart (Agent 86), Barbara Feldon as Agent 99, and Edward Platt as The Chief. Henry said that they created the show at the request of Daniel Melnick to capitalize on James Bond and Inspector Clouseau, "the two biggest things in the entertainment world today". Brooks described it as "an insane combination of James Bond and Mel Brooks comedy". Marina del Rey (Spanish for "Marina of the King") is an unincorporated seaside community in Los Angeles County, California, with an eponymous harbor that is a major boating and water recreation destination of the greater Los Angeles area. Barbara Feldon (born Barbara Anne Hall; March 12, 1933) is an American actress primarily known for her roles on television. Her most prominent role was that of Agent 99 in the 1965–1970 sitcom ''Get Smart''. Early life Feldon was born Barbara Anne Hall in Butler, Pennsylvania, part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. Feldon and her older sister Patricia were the daughters of Raymond D. and Julia Stewart Hall.She graduated from Bethel Park High School and trained at Pittsburgh Playhouse. In 1955, she graduated from Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie Mellon University) with a Bachelor of Arts in drama. She was initiated into the Delta Xi Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma. ''CBS Summer Playhouse'' is an American anthology series that ran from June 12, 1987 to August 22, 1989 on CBS. It aired unsold television pilots during the summer season. Overview Tim Reid and Daphne Maxwell Reid acted as hosts during the first season, introducing each pilot. Viewers were also encouraged to call a 1-800 number at the end of each episode, to voice their preference. However, the "winning" pilot chosen by the viewers was never picked up as a series. The series was revamped during the second and third seasons, and featured no hosts or viewer voting. Reception David Bianculli of ''The Philadelphia Inquirer'' criticized the anthology series, writing that it "may be the most inaccurate title ever given to a TV program".
