Burt Lancon
Burt Jude Lancon (born November 13, 1960 in Morgan City, Louisiana) was an American pair skater. Competing with partner Maria DiDomenico, he won the silver medal at the 1982 United States Figure Skating Championships. The following year, he teamed up with Jill Watson. The couple was two-time bronze medalists at the U.S. Championships and finished sixth at the 1984 Winter Olympic Games. Burt went on to compete as a professional. After winning the US Open Pair Championship title, He also won the US Professional Championships in 1987. He went on to compete at the World Professional Championships (Jaca, Spain) where he and his partner won 1st place. In 1997 Burt Lancon and Cindy Landry (Canada) Competed on the USA Network in "Improv Ice." Burt and Cindy won second place. He also was in the background of episode 25 of "The Office", Michael's Birthday, as a temporary replacement of Oscar. Morgan City, Louisiana
Morgan City is a small city in St. Mary and lower St. Martin parishes in the U.S. State of Louisiana. The population was 12,404 at the 2010 census. Pair skating is a figure skating discipline defined by the International Skating Union (ISU) as "the skating of two persons in unison who perform their movements in such harmony with each other as to give the impression of genuine Pair Skating as compared with independent Single Skating".S&P/ID 2021, p. 109 The ISU also states that a pairs team consists of "one Woman and one Man". United States Figure Skating Championships
The U.S. Figure Skating Championships is a figure skating competition held annually to crown the national champions of the United States. The competition is sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating. In the U.S. skating community, the event is often referred to informally as "Nationals". Medals are currently awarded in four disciplines: men's (boys') singles, ladies' (girls') singles, pair skating, and ice dancing in four colors: gold (first), silver (second), bronze (third), and pewter (fourth) on two levels, senior and junior. Jill Watson
Jill Marilynn Watson (born March 29, 1963 in Bloomington, Indiana) is an American retired pair skater and coach. With her partner Peter Oppegard, she is the 1988 Olympic bronze medalist and a three-time U.S. national champion. Watson was initially paired with Burt Lancon, with whom she won two national bronze medals in 1983 and 1984. She began competing with Oppegard in 1985. In their career, Watson and Oppegard won three national titles, a world bronze medal, an Olympic bronze medal, and various other medals. During Watson and Oppegard's free skate at the 1988 Olympics, a photographer dropped his camera bag onto the ice and an usher walked onto the ice to pick it up while the pair was performing an overhead lift on the other side of the rink.
