Burntisland Shipyard
Burntisland Shipyard Football Club are a Scottish football club based in the town of Burntisland, Fife. The club competes in the and play their home matches at Recreation Park. They are full members of the Scottish Football Association. History The club was formed from the Burntisland Shipbuilding Company's recreation fund, which had been established in 1919 by weekly subscription from the workers at the company to establish recreational activities for themselves. This fund allowed for the establishment of a cricket club, bowls club and two football teams, one at junior level, the other at juvenile level. The recreation club then bought a ground and built a pavilion at it to facilitate the playing of cricket in the summer months and football in the winter. The junior team faded by the early 1920s, but the juvenile team continued to play in local Fife leagues, and it was in 1925 that the Burntisland Shipyard Amateur F.C. that exists at present was properly formed. Burntisland
Burntisland ( , sco, also Bruntisland) is a former royal burgh and parish in Fife, Scotland, on the northern shore of the Firth of Forth. According to the 2011 census, the town has a population of 6,269. It was previously known as Wester Kinghorn or Little Kinghorn. It is known locally for its award-winning sandy beach, the 15th-century Rossend Castle, as well as the traditional summer fair and Highland games day. To the north of the town a hill called The Binn is a landmark of the Fife coastline; a volcanic plug, it rises above sea level. History Early evidence of human activity in this area has been found in rock carvings on the Binn, thought to be about 4,000 years old. The Roman commander Agricola may have used the natural harbour and set up camp at the nearby Dunearn Hill in AD 83. The earliest historical record of the town was in the 12th century, when the monks of Dunfermline Abbey owned the harbour and neighbouring lands.Lamont-Brown ''Fife in History and Legend ...

Girvan F
Girvan ( gd, Inbhir Gharbhain, "mouth of the River Girvan") is a burgh and harbour town in Carrick, South Ayrshire, Scotland. Girvan is situated on the east coast of the Firth of Clyde, with a population of about 6,450. It lies south of Ayr, and north of Stranraer, the main ferry port from Scotland to Northern Ireland. Deriving its name from the river which runs through the landscape the etymology of Girvan has possible Brythonic origins, related to the Welsh: ''Gearafon'' or ''Gwyrddafon'', "river flowing through the green flourishing place, from afon or avon, a river, and Gwyrdd, green, flourishing"). Prehistory and archaeology The earliest evidence of human habitation in the Girvan area dates to the Mesolithic. Between 1996 and 1998, archaeological investigations were undertaken by GUARD archaeology (then part of the University of Glasgow) as part of an expansion of the William Grant & Sons distillery. This work discovered several burnt mounds that dated to the later th ...

Scottish Qualifying Cup
The Scottish Qualifying Cup was a football competition played in Scotland between 1895 and 2007. During that time, apart from a brief spell in the 1950s, it was the only way for non-league teams to qualify for the Scottish Cup. The Qualifying Cup was open to all full member clubs of the Scottish Football Association, who were not members of the Scottish Premier League or Scottish Football League. In June 2007 the Scottish Football Association announced a new format for the Scottish Cup from season 2007–08 that would allow all full member clubs direct entry into the competition and consequently the Qualifying Cup competition was scrapped. History The Qualifying Cup was introduced in 1895 to make the number of entries into the main Scottish Cup more manageable and reduce the number of mis-matched ties in the early rounds, and to give the smaller teams a trophy to play for instead of simply having preliminary rounds; the proposal for a cup was carried 28 votes to 23, the main reaso ...

2007–08 Scottish Cup
The 2007–08 Scottish Cup was the 123rd season of Scotland's most prestigious football knockout competition. The winners were Rangers, who defeated Queen of the South in the final. The 2007–08 tournament saw a change in structure for the tournament with the admission of 4 members of the Scottish Junior Football Association to the first round. Calendar First round Edinburgh University were given a random bye to the 2nd round. This was because only three Scottish Junior Football Association clubs entered, due to Linlithgow Rose winning both the East League and the Scottish Junior Cup and there being no mechanism allowing for runners-up to enter. Keith, Inverurie Loco Works, Annan Athletic and Threave Rovers all received automatic byes into the 2nd round, due to being respectively: Highland Football League winners and runners-up, East of Scotland Football League winners and South of Scotland Football League winners during 2006–07 season.
