Burkhard Schröder
Burkhard Schröder is a German journalist based in Berlin. From 2005 to 2007, he was the editor of Berliner Journalisten. Life Schroeder writes for the online magazine Telepolis and deals primarily with the themes of Internet culture, Internet and right-wing radicalism. One of his most known books is entitled Nazis and Pop appeared in the espresso-Verlag. Schroeder's book Tron - Death of a Hacker Under the Alias of the "Tron" about the late German hacker Boris Floricic has been a source of controversy in the German hacker subculture. While the then Speaker of the Chaos Computer Club, Andy Mueller-Maguhn and the relatives of the dead believe Floricic was murdered, Schroeder's research findings suggest how the results of the police investigation concluded that Floricic committed suicide. ''Telepolis'' is a German Internet magazine, published by the Heinz Heise Verlag since the beginning of 1996. It was founded by journalists Armin Medosch and Florian Rötzer and deals with privacy, science, culture, internet-related and general politics and media. Other contributors include Mathias Bröckers, Gabriele Hooffacker or Burkhard Schröder. ''Telepolis'' received the European prize for online journalism in the category "investigative reporting" in 2000 for its coverage of the Echelon project; in 2002, it received the Online Grimme prize. Tron - Death Of A Hacker Under The Alias Of The "Tron"
''Tron'' (stylized as ''TRON'') is a 1982 American science fiction action adventure film written and directed by Steven Lisberger from a story by Lisberger and Bonnie MacBird. The film stars Jeff Bridges as Kevin Flynn, a computer programmer and video game developer who is transported inside the software world of a mainframe computer where he interacts with programs in his attempt to escape. It also stars Bruce Boxleitner, David Warner, Cindy Morgan, and Barnard Hughes. ''Tron'' was one of cinema's earliest films to use extensive computer-generated imagery (CGI). Boris Floricic
Boris Floricic (8 June 1972 – 17 October 1998), better known by his pseudonym Tron, was a German hacker and phreaker whose death in unclear circumstances has led to various conspiracy theories. He is also known for his Diplom thesis presenting one of the first public implementations of a telephone with built-in voice encryption, the "Cryptophon". Floricic's pseudonym was a reference to the eponymous character in the 1982 Disney film ''Tron''. Floricic was interested in defeating computer security mechanisms; amongst other hacks, he broke the security of the German phonecard and produced working clones. He was subsequently sentenced to 15 months in jail for the physical theft of a public phone (for reverse engineering purposes) but the sentence was suspended to probation. Chaos Computer Club
The Chaos Computer Club (CCC) is Europe's largest association of Hacker (computer security), hackers with 7,700 registered members. Founded in 1981, the association is incorporated as an ''eingetragener Verein'' in Germany, with local chapters (called ''Erfa-Kreise'') in various cities in Germany and the surrounding countries, particularly where there are German-speaking communities. Since 1985, some chapters in Switzerland have organized an independent sister association called the (CCC-CH) instead. The CCC describes itself as "a galactic community of life forms, independent of age, sex, race or societal orientation, which strives across borders for freedom of information…". The availability of bomb-making instruction on the Internet has been a cause célèbre amongst lawmakers and politicians anxious to curb the Internet frontier by censoring certain types of information deemed "dangerous" which is available online.
