Anna Lalor Burdick
Anna Lalor Burdick (September 3, 1869 – April 20, 1944) was an Iowan educator and special agent for the U.S. Department of Education who advocated for vocational education for women. Her work is honored and continued by the Lalor Foundation and Burdick Career High School in Washington, D.C. Career Burdick taught from school to school, but she stayed in the Des Moines area. After graduating from University of Iowa in 1889, she taught at West Des Moines High School until 1891. She became the principal of Iowa Falls High School in 1894 and kept her position for three years. In 1902, she moved on to become the superintendent of Iowa Falls and Alden Community School Districts. On September 25, 1912, she presented “The Re-Organization of Our Educational System to Fit the Social and Industrial Needs of the Community” at the Better Iowa Schools Commission. Edmund Peyton Burdick (born February 26, 1997) is an American professional baseball outfielder for the Miami Marlins of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2022. Amateur career Burdick attended Glen Este High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he played baseball, basketball, and football. In 2014, as a junior, he batted .368 alongside pitching to a 2.13 ERA. He was undrafted in the 2015 Major League Baseball draft, and enrolled at Wright State University where he played college baseball. In 2016, his freshman season at Wright State, he batted .289 with four home runs and 31 RBIs over 63 games. He missed the 2017 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. He returned to play in 2018, hitting .347 with nine home runs and 65 RBIs over 56 starts. That summer, he played in the Cape Cod Baseball League with the Cotuit Kettleers. Burdick is an unincorporated community in Morris County, Kansas, United States. It was named after Ms. Burdick, the sweetheart of a Santa Fe Railroad official in 1887. As of the 2020 census, the population of the community and nearby areas was 62. It is located southeast of Herington, about east of the intersection of U.S. Route 77 (aka U.S. Route 56) highway and 340th Street, or about east of Lost Springs. Burdick West Peak ( bg, връх западен Бърдик, vrah zapaden Bardik, ) rises to 455 m at the northwest extremity of Burdick Ridge in eastern Livingston Island. The peak is partly ice-free. The feature takes its name from Burdick Peak, the summit of the eponymous ridge. Burdick South Peak
Burdick South Peak ( bg, връх южен Бърдик, vrah yuzhen Bardik, ) rises 544 m and is formed by an offshoot extending 1 km west-southwestwards from the southeastern extremity of Burdick Ridge in eastern Livingston Island. The peak is narrow, with steep and partly ice-free southern and northern slopes. It is linked to Willan Nunatak by Willan Saddle. The feature takes its name from Burdick Peak. Location The peak is located at which is 980 m south by west of Burdick Peak, 5.26 km east of Sinemorets Hill, 1.45 km northeast of Willan Nunatak and 1.49 km west-northwest of Pliska Peak. Walter Burdick (April 23, 1893 – March 7, 1982) was an American farmer and politician. Burdick was born in Viola Township, Olmsted County, Minnesota. He went to the Minneapolis public schools. Quentin Northrup Burdick (June 19, 1908 – September 8, 1992) was an American lawyer and politician. A member of the North Dakota Democratic-NPL Party, he represented North Dakota in the U.S. House of Representatives (1959–1960) and the U.S. Senate (1960–1992). At the time of his death, he was the third longest-serving senator (after Strom Thurmond and Robert Byrd) among current members of the Senate.
