Bunkhouse Stampede (1988)
The Bunkhouse Stampede Finals was the third Bunkhouse Stampede professional wrestling event produced by Jim Crockett Promotions under the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) banner. It was the only Bunkhouse Stampede event to air as a pay-per-view (PPV) event. The event took place on January 24, 1988 from the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York in direct competition with the WWF's Royal Rumble television special. In the main event, Dusty Rhodes won a Steel Cage Bunkhouse Stampede. On the undercard Ric Flair successfully defended the NWA World Heavyweight Championship against Road Warrior Hawk, Nikita Koloff successfully defended the NWA World Television Championship against Bobby Eaton and Barry Windham lost the short-lived NWA Western States Heritage Championship to Larry Zbyzsko. The National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) is an American professional wrestling professional wrestling promotion, promotion and former professional wrestling governing body operated by its parent company Lightning One, Inc. Feud (professional Wrestling)
In professional wrestling, a feud is a staged rivalry between multiple wrestlers or groups of wrestlers. They are integrated into ongoing storylines, particularly in events which are televised. Feuds may last for months or even years or be resolved with implausible speed, perhaps during a single match. WWE's terminology discouraged the use of the term along with the word "war". Definition Feuds are often the result of the friction that is created between faces (the heroic figures) and heels (the malevolent, "evil" participants). Lawrence Whistler (born December 5, 1951), better known by the ring name Larry Zbyszko, is an American retired professional wrestler. He is perhaps best known for his feud with his mentor, Bruno Sammartino, during the early 1980s as well as his work as a wrestler and color commentator for World Championship Wrestling. NWA Western States Heritage Championship
The NWA Western States Heritage Championship was a short-lived National Wrestling Alliance title in Jim Crockett Promotions that was filled via a tournament in the Universal Wrestling Federation in 1987, and defended in the NWA until it was abandoned in 1989. The belt was created as a tribute to the NWA Western States Heavyweight Championship based in Amarillo, Texas, despite the fact that it was never actually defended there and that most title defenses happened in Eastern Seaboard and at best the Midwest. The NWA Western States Heavyweight Championship revived in 2015 by the NWA and Vendetta Pro Wrestling, uses a belt design identical to the belt used for the NWA Western States Heritage Championship, prompting many to refer to it as the "NWA Western States Heritage Championship". Barry Clinton Windham (born July 4, 1960) is an American retired professional wrestler. The son of wrestler Blackjack Mulligan, he is best known for his appearances with the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW). Bobby Lee Eaton (August 14, 1958 – August 4, 2021) was an American professional wrestler best known as "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton. He was most famous for his work in tag teams, especially as one-half of The Midnight Express. WCW World Television Championship
The WCW World Television Championship was a professional wrestling television championship owned by the now-defunct World Championship Wrestling (WCW) promotion. The title was created in 1974 by Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling (MACW) as a secondary title. Initially known as the Mid-Atlantic Television Championship, as Mid-Atlantic (later known as Jim Crockett Promotions) grew, the title became known as the NWA World Television Championship and in 1991 as the WCW World TV Championship.
