Bundesstraße 203
The Bundesstraße 203 is a German federal road or ''Bundesstraße'' and the west–east link between Büsum, Heide, Rendsburg, Eckernförde and Kappeln in the central part of the state of Schleswig-Holstein. Route The B 203 begins in Büsum where it has connections to the ferry to Helgoland. The route continues eastwards to the city of Heide where it has connections to the B 5 and the A 23 motorway. The road continues further east until it reaches the city of Rendsburg where it has connections with the B 77, B 202 and the A 7 motorway. After leaving Rendsburg the route goes northeast to the city of Eckernförde where it crosses the B 76. Büsum
Büsum () is a fishing and tourist town in the district of Dithmarschen, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is situated on the North Sea coast, approx. 18 km southwest of Heide. Büsum is also the administrative seat of the ''Amt'' ("collective municipality") Büsum-Wesselburen. History and geography The first documented mention of Büsum (as an island) dates from the year 1140. The island's name on medieval documents changed several times from the original Bivsne (1140) to Busin (1208), Busen (1281), and Buzen (1447). Büsum's medieval history has been documented through the chronicles of Neocorus (Johannes Adolph Köster), a pastor and teacher in Büsum during the 16th century. Geographical history During medieval times, Büsum was an island with three villages, Süderdorp, Middeldorp and Norddorp. Albersdorf
Albersdorf is a municipality in the district of Dithmarschen, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is situated near the Kiel Canal, approx. 14 km southeast of Heide. The place was first mentioned in 1281 under the name ''Aluerdesdorpe'', meaning "village of the old custodian." Albersdorf is part of the Amt Mitteldithmarschen. Geography There are many tumuli from the Neolithic and the Bronze Age in this region. It is situated in the east of the Dithmarschen, close to the Kiel Canal. The area is called a ''geest''—a sandy heathland with numerous hills and forests. Albersdorf is a spa town visited for its pure air. It is therefore a popular touristic centre of the Dithmarschen. Itzehoe
Itzehoe (; nds, Itzhoe) is a town in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. As the capital of the district Steinburg, Itzehoe is located on the Stör, a navigable tributary of the Elbe, 51 km (31.7 mi) northwest of Hamburg and 24 km (14.9 mi) north of Glückstadt. The population is about 32,530. History Itzehoe is the oldest town in Holstein. Its nucleus was a castle, built in 809 by Egbert, one of Charlemagne's counts, against the Denmark, Danes. The community that sprang up around it was variously called Esseveldoburg, Eselsfleth and Ezeho. In 1201 the town was destroyed but it was restored in 1224. The new town was granted the Lübeck law, Lübeck rights by Adolphus IV in 1238 and the old town in 1303. During the Thirty Years' War Itzehoe was twice destroyed by the Sweden, Swedes, in 1644 and 1657, but was rebuilt on each occasion. It passed to Prussia in 1867, with the duchy of Schleswig-Holstein. Brunsbüttel () is a town in the district of Dithmarschen, in Schleswig-Holstein, northern Germany that lies at the mouth of the Elbe river, near the North Sea. It is the location of the western entrance to the Kiel Canal. History The earliest reference to the town is in a document dated 14 July 1286. With the construction of the Kiel Canal (german: Nord-Ostsee-Kanal) in 1911, the town was divided in two. During the opening days of World War II, on 4 September 1939, the No. 149 Squadron RAF carried out the second bombing of that war, targeting warships near the town. Sankt Peter-Ording () is a popular German seaside spa and a municipality in the district of Nordfriesland, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is the only German seaside resort that has a sulphur spring and thus terms itself "North Sea spa and sulphur spring". By overnight stays, St. Peter-Ording is the largest seaside resort and has the most overnight stays in the state of Schleswig-Holstein.
