The track is a significant contributor to the sport of speedway in Australia and each year it hosts the Krikke Boys Memorial Race as well as other significant titles including a round of the World Series Sprintcars and the Speedcar Pro Series. Bunbury has hosted motorcycle speedway, including Round 1 of the 2005/06 Western Australian Solo Championship, as well as the opening rounds of the 1995 and 1996 Australian Speedway Masters Series – both rounds being won by English star Simon Wigg. Max Dumsney
Max Dumesny (born 12 July 1959, in Nullawarre, Victoria) is an Australian professional Sprintcar driver. Dumesny was born and raised in Victoria but has resided in Nelson, New South Wales since the mid-1990s, although his Sprintcar carries the number V5 (for Victoria #5) that he has used throughout his career, although he has changed that to Australia 1 when he has won both the Australian Formula 500 and Australian Sprintcar Championships. Career Junior Classes Dumesny started his career on motorbikes and it was generally believed that he would go on to a national scrambles career, but fate intervened on a dark night not far from home when riding his motorcycle he struck a cow that had wandered onto the road. Australian Speedway Masters Series
The Australian Speedway Masters Series (also known as the ''International Speedway Masters Series'' and the ''Series 500'') was an annual Motorcycle speedway series of races held each Australian speedway season between 1995 and 2000. The first of its type for motorcycle speedway in Australia, the competition featured the best riders from Australia racing against the best riders from around the world. The series was the brainchild of promoter and television commentator David Tapp who did most of the ground work as well as providing the television commentary. After being run over 13 rounds in 1995, the years 1996, 1997 and 1998 saw the series run over 10 rounds, 1999 was run over 11 rounds and the final series in 2000 was run over 13 rounds. Australian Street Stock Championship
The Australian Street Stock Championship is a Dirt track racing championship held each year to determine the Australian national champion. The championship is held over a single meeting (usually on consecutive nights) and has run annually since the 1989/90 season and is awarded to a different state of Australia each year by the national controlling body, the Australian Saloon Car Federation (ASCF). As of 2013/14, the championship has not been held in either New South Wales or Queensland. The championship is generally run at country tracks and only twice (1992 and 2012) has it been held in a state capital city, that being the Northline Speedway in Darwin. Australian Formula 500 Championship
The Australian Formula 500 Championship is an annual dirt track racing championship meeting held in Australia for Formula 500 cars. Formula 500's in Australia evolved from the old TQ's (Three Quarter Speedcar Midget) of the 1950s and 1960s. The first Australian Championship was held on 28 December 1964 at the Point Pass Speedway and was won by South Australian driver Bob Lane. A 40 and 50 year reunion for the event was held in November 2004 and 2014. The current Australian Champion is Liam Williams who won the title at the Gunnedah Speedway in New South Wales. The championship was known as the Australian TQ Championship from 1964-1976, after which it was renamed the Australian Formula 500 Championship. Australian Sprintcar Championship
The Australian Sprintcar Championship is a dirt track racing championship held each year to determine the Australian national champion for winged sprint car racing. The single championship meeting runs in either late January or early February and has been held each year since the Windsor RSL Speedway in Sydney hosted the first championship in 1963. After the first nine championship meetings were held in New South Wales, the Sprintcar Control Council of Australia (SCCA) now holds the meeting in a different state on a rotational basis, with 1972 seeing the first championship held outside of NSW at the Premier Speedway in Warrnambool, Victoria. Simon Antony Wigg (15 October 1960 – 15 November 2000) was an English speedway, grasstrack and longtrack rider who won five World Long Track Championships and finished runner-up in the Speedway World Championship in 1989.Rogers, G.(2005). Western Australian Individual Speedway Championship
The Western Australian Individual Speedway Championship is a Motorcycle speedway championship held annually in Western Australia to determine the WA State champion. The event is organised by the Speedway Motorcycle Club of WA and is sanctioned by Motorcycling Australia (MA). Mick McKeon and former twice Australian Champion Glenn Doyle have both won six championships each. Chum Taylor, who won his first championship in 1958 at Perth's Claremont Speedway, is next with five wins, his last in 1970. Seven international riders have become the Western Australian Champion.
