Eduardo Pérez Bulnes
Eduardo Pérez Bulnes (12 October 1785 –3 March 1851) was an Argentine statesman. He was a representative to the Congress of Tucumán which on 9 July 1816 declared the Independence of Argentina. Pérez Bulnes was born in Córdoba into a landowning family and was educated at the College of Monserrat. He was a member of the Córdoba '' cabildo'' and served as head of police. He was elected to represent Córdoba in the Tucumán Congress and served for the declaration in 1816. Along with his Córdoba colleagues, he was one of the few federalists in the Congress, speaking for a system of strong autonomous provinces. Francisco Bulnes (4 October 1847 – 22 September 1924) was a Mexican scientist, journalist, and politician who figured among the Científicos, the Mexican intelligentsia who supported the authoritarian presidency of Porfirio Díaz. He was a critic of the Mexican Revolution. Biography Bulnes was born in Mexico City in 1847 and attended the National Mining School. He then taught mathematics at the prestigious National Preparatory School, later also teaching other sciences as well as political economy. As a member of Mexico's Society of Geography and Statistics, Bulnes traveled to Japan with a delegation of Mexican scientists. He entered political life through his work on the Mexico City-Veracruz railway line when he met liberal Veracruz politician Sebastian Lerdo de Tejada. Manuel Bulnes Prieto (; December 25, 1799 – October 18, 1866) was a Chilean military and political figure. He was twice President of Chile, from 1841 to 1846 and from 1846 to 1851. Born in Concepción, he served as the president of Chile between 1841 and 1851. At the age of 16 he was imprisoned as a revolutionary by the Spanish authorities, but was soon released, and in 1818 joined the army of San Martin under whom he served as colonel throughout the Chilean War of Independence. After three years of continuous warfare (1820–23), he accomplished the temporary conquest of the Araucanian Indians. He was appointed brigadier general in 1831. In 1832 he crossed the Cordillera and defeated decisively the Pincheira brothers in the battle of Epulafquén. Then Bulnes commanded the Chilean army in 1838 against Gen. Manuel Bulnes Pinto
Manuel Bulnes Pinto (July 10, 1842 – April 18, 1899) was a Chilean military and political figure. Bulnes was born in Santiago, the son of President Manuel Bulnes Prieto and of First Lady Enriqueta Pinto Garmendia, who in turn was the daughter of President Francisco Antonio Pinto and sister of future President Aníbal Pinto. He studied at the ''Colegio de los Padres Franceses'' and later moved to Paris, where he completed three years of law before returning to Chile. In 1867, Bulnes joined the Chilean Army as commander of a civic regiment organized and financed by himself. At the head of his regiment, he waged a continuous warfare against the Araucanian Indians in southern Chile, and in 1874 he joined the regular army ranks as a Sergeant major. He married Elena Calvo Cruchaga in 1877. Manuel Bulnes was elected a deputy for Mulchén in 1879. Bulnes is a station on the Line D of the Buenos Aires Underground at the intersection of Avenida Santa Fe and Bulnes Street. The station was opened on 23 February 1940 as part of the extension of Line D from Tribunales to Palermo. Overview It is an underground station and is located in neighbourhood of Palermo in Buenos Aires right beneath the Alto Palermo Shopping Centre; one of the exits from the station lead directly into the mall. Bulnes is a Chilean city and commune in Diguillín Province, Ñuble Region. Demographics According to the 2002 census of the National Statistics Institute, Bulnes spans an area of and has 20,595 inhabitants (10,275 men and 10,320 women). Of these, 12,514 (60.8%) lived in urban areas and 8,081 (39.2%) in rural areas. Between the 1992 and 2002 censuses, the population grew by 4.5% (882 persons). Administration As a commune, Bulnes is a third-level administrative division of Chile administered by a municipal council, headed by an alcalde who is directly elected every four years. Bowness-on-Windermere is a town in the South Lakeland district of Cumbria, England. It lies next to Windermere lake and the town of Windermere to the north east with which it forms the civil parish of Windermere and Bowness. The town was historically part of the county of Westmorland and is also forms an urban area with Windermere. The town had a population of 3,814 in the 2011 Census. Etymology 'Bowness' (originally 'Bulnes') means " 'the headland where the bull grazes', from OE 'bula', 'bull' and OE 'næss' 'headland', perhaps referring to the keeping of the parish bull." The 'on-Windermere' part was added later (found on the Ordnance Survey map of 1899), presumably to distinguish this 'Bowness' from other Cumbrian ones. ('OE' = Old English). Fuerte Bulnes
Fuerte Bulnes is a Chilean fort located by the Strait of Magellan, 62 km south of Punta Arenas. It was founded in 1843 on a rocky hill at Punta Santa Ana, and named after President Manuel Bulnes Prieto. The fort was built to further the president's colonization policies in Southern Chile and protect the Strait of Magellan. He directed construction to ward off claims by other nations. Chiloé's intendant (governor), Domingo Espiñeira Riesco, ordered construction of a schooner to sail to that location. He originally commissioned it in the president's name, but Bulnes had the ship renamed ''Ancud'', for where it was built. She sailed from Ancud on May 22, 1843, under command of John Williams Wilson, a British-born Chilean Navy officer. Juan Francisco Bulnes () is a municipality in the Honduran department of Gracias a Dios. The total population of the municipality was 6,407 in 2015. The rivers Abajo and Platano along with the lagoon of Ibans form the major water systems of the municipality. Almost all the localities are located next to these water systems with Ibans being the biggest. The only health centre of the municipality is located in Ibans.
