Bullumba Landestoy
Pedro Rafael Landestoy Duluc, known as Bullumba Landestoy (August 16, 1925 – July 17, 2018) was a Dominican Republic, Dominican pianist and composer internationally known for his compositions for piano and guitar. He has written numerous popular songs. Early life Born on August 16, 1925 in La Romana, Dominican Republic, La Romana, he studied at the National Conservatory of Music of Santo Domingo. His first piece for piano (Danza Loca) was composed at 20 years old. Career The music composed by Bullumba has been interpreted by musicians of international recognition. Among them, they have interpreted their work for guitar the Dominican Rafael Scarfullery and the Colombian Francisco Roldán. Mexican cinema dates to the late nineteenth century during the rule of President Porfirio Díaz. Seeing a demonstration of short films in 1896, Díaz immediately saw the importance of documenting his presidency in order to present an ideal image of it. Ernesto Lecuona
Ernesto Lecuona y Casado (; August 7, 1896 – November 29, 1963) was a Cuban composer and pianist, many of whose works have become standards of the Latin, jazz and classical repertoires. His over 600 compositions include songs and zarzuelas as well as pieces for piano and symphonic orchestra. In the 1930s, he helped establish a popular band, the Lecuona Cuban Boys, which showcased some of his most successful pieces and was later taken over by Armando Oréfiche. In the 1950s, Lecuona recorded several LPs, including solo piano albums for RCA Victor. He moved to the United States after the Cuban Revolution and died in Spain in 1963. Early years Lecuona was born in Guanabacoa, Havana, Cuba, Kingdom of Spain, to a Cuban mother and a Canarian father. Lecuona Cuban Boys
The Lecuona Cuban Boys was a popular Cuban orchestra which toured the world for over forty years. The band was founded by Ernesto Lecuona, whose role was that of a patron-entrepreneur. He did not actually play with the band, but sometimes gave a piano recital before the band played. The core of the band was put together in 1931 as ''Orquesta Encanto''; the band changed name early in 1934. On tour in Europe, in 1934, Lecuona returned to Cuba, and Armando Oréfiche took charge of the band in Europe. Ernesto gave them the gift of his name, which, at the time, was a property well worth having, and the right to use a number of his compositions. The LCB was exceptionally strong in arrangements, compositions and instrumental quality (most of them could play two or three instruments). Their only weak spot was the lack of a really first-rate Cuban singer, but that was not so important as might seem because they played so often to non-Latin audiences. Fernando Fernández "El Crooner de México" (1916–1999) was a Mexican actor, singer and director. He was born on November 9, 1916, in Monterrey, Mexico, and died in Mexico City, Mexico, on November 24, 1999. Fernando was the son of Eloisa Reyes. He was brother of the film director Emilio Fernández and actor Jaime Fernández and cousin to Emilio Fernández. He was married to singer Lupita Palomera, who died in 2008. Co-founder and vocalist of the band Los Fabulosos Cadillacs along with Flavio Cianciarulo. Alberto Beltrán
Alberto Beltrán García (born March 22, 1923, Mexico City, d. April 19, 2002, Mexico City) was a Mexican graphic artist and painter known principally for his work with publications such as illustrations and political cartoons but he created a number of murals as well. He was born in the rough neighborhood of Tepito and began drawing for local publishers when he was a teenager. He attended the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas where one of his teachers introduced him to the Taller de Gráfica Popular where he began his career in earnest. From the late 1940s until his death, he work with various publications, mostly newspapers, but he also did book illustrations as well. In his later career, he worked on a number of murals, especially in the state of Veracruz, which he had an affinity for.
