Bullo River Station
Bullo River Station also once known as Bullo River Valley Station, is a pastoral lease that operates as a cattle station in the Northern Territory of Australia. Situated close to the border of Western Australia, approximately north west of Timber Creek, Northern Territory, Timber Creek and north east of Kununurra, Western Australia, Kununurra. The Victoria River (Northern Territory), Victoria River flows through the property. It is bounded by Newry Station and Auvergne Station to the south and by Spirit Hills Station to the north and west, and lies on the traditional lands of the Mariu people. The property occupies an area of and can support a herd of over 9,000 heads of Brahman cattle. The property was established by Raymond Locke who was granted the lease for the area in June 1960 under Pastoral Lease No. 568 over . Shorthorn
The Shorthorn breed of cattle originated in the North East of England in the late eighteenth century. The breed was developed as dual-purpose, suitable for both dairy and beef production; however, certain blood lines within the breed always emphasised one quality or the other. Over time, these different lines diverged, and by the second half of the twentieth century, two separate breeds had developed – the Beef Shorthorn, and the Milking Shorthorn. All Shorthorn cattle are coloured red, white, or roan, although roan cattle are preferred by some, and completely white animals are not common. An emergency locator beacon is a radio beacon, a portable battery powered radio transmitter, used to locate airplanes, vessels, and persons in distress and in need of immediate rescue. Various types of emergency locator beacons are carried by aircraft, ships, vehicles, hikers and cross-country skiers.
