Bulgaria Billie Jean King Cup Team
The Bulgaria women's national tennis team represents Bulgaria in Billie Jean King Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Bulgarian Tennis Federation. In 2022, Bulgaria competed in the Europe/Africa Zone Group I event in Antalya, where they finished in fourth place in Pool B of the competition. The team ended the group stage with a 2-3 W/L ratio after defeating Sweden and Georgia and successfully maintained their place in the Europe/Africa Zone Group I until 2023. History Bulgaria competed in its first Fed Cup in 1966. Until the 1996 edition of the competition the team has always played in the Fed Cup World Group. From 1996 the team is competing in Group I of the Europe/Africa Zone. The best results of the Bulgarian Fed Cup team are the semifinals the team played in 1985 and 1987. Dora Rangelova ( bg, Дора Рангелова; born 3 September 1967) is a retired tennis player from Bulgaria. On 15 August 1988, she reached her highest WTA singles ranking of 459. The 1989 Federation Cup was the 27th edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's tennis. The tournament was held at Ariake Tennis Forest Park in Tokyo, Japan, from 1–9 October. Petia Arshinkova ( bg, Петя Аршинкова; born 26 April 1998) is a former professional Bulgarian tennis player. Arshinkova has a career-high singles ranking of No. 476 by the WTA, achieved on 29 July 2019. She has won one singles title and three doubles titles on the ITF Women's Circuit. The Europe/Africa Zone is one of three zones of regional competition in the 2020–21 Billie Jean King Cup. Group I * Venue 1: Tallink Tennis Center, Tallinn, Estonia (indoor hard) * Venue 2: Centre National de Tennis, Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg (indoor hard) * Date: 5–8 February 2020 The thirteen teams were split across the two venues, with 7 teams competing in Tallinn and the other 6 competing in Esch-sur-Alzette. 2018 Fed Cup
The 2018 Fed Cup was the 56th edition of the most important tournament between national teams in women's tennis. The 2018 Fed Cup was expected to feature some structural changes, including a 16-team World Group and the introduction of a Final Four event at a neutral, predetermined location. However, the ITF announced shortly before their annual meeting that they were tabling a vote on the changes for at least one year. In one of the biggest shocks in the tournament history, Russia was demoted to the Zonal Groups for the first time in two decades, after consecutive losses to Slovakia and Latvia. The 2012 Fed Cup (also known as the 2012 Fed Cup by BNP Paribas for sponsorship purposes) was the 50th edition of the most important tournament between national teams in women's tennis. The draw took place on 17 July 2011 in Kobe, Japan. The final took place at the O2 Arena in Prague, Czech Republic on 3–4 November. The home and defending champions Czech Republic defeated the first-finalists Serbia, to win their seventh title and equal the record for second-most titles won by a country since the competition's beginning.
