Hugh Buggy
Edward Hugh Buggy (9 June 1896 – 18 June 1974) was a leading journalist well known as an Australian rules football writer covering the Victorian Football League (renamed in 1989 Australian Football League). Born at Seymour, Victoria in 1896, Buggy attended school there before moving to Melbourne with his mother after the death of his father. He commenced his journalism career at the ''South Melbourne Record'', and joined the Melbourne ''Argus'' in 1917. He studied for the diploma of journalism at the university in 1921. Ned Buggy
Ned Buggy (born 1948) is an Irish retired hurling selector and former player who enjoyed a successful career as a midfielder with the Wexford senior team. Born Wexford, Buggy was introduced to hurling in his youth. He had some championship successes at underage levels with the Faythe Harriers club before later claiming a championship medal at senior level. Buggy made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he first linked up with the Wexford minor team. An All-Ireland medal winner in this grade he later was an All-Ireland runner-up with the under-21 team. Buggy made his senior debut during the 1966-67 league. He went on to play a key role for Wexford at midfield during a successful era and won one All-Ireland medal as a non-playing substitute, four Leinster medals and one National Hurling League medal. Paddy Buggy
Paddy Buggy (15 March 1929 – 15 May 2013) was an Irish sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club Slieverue and was a member of the Kilkenny senior inter-county team from 1949 until 1960. Buggy later served as the 27th president of the Gaelic Athletic Association from 1982 until 1985. Playing career Club Born in Slieverue, County Kilkenny, Buggy played his club hurling with his local Slieverue club. He won one senior county title with the club in 1954. Inter-county Buggy first came to prominence on the inter-county scene as a member of the Kilkenny senior team in the late 1940s. He made his championship debut in 1949 and won his first Leinster the following year in 1950. Kilkenny later played Tipperary in an unexciting final which Tipp won by a point. Three years later in 1953 Buggy won a second Leinster medal; however, Kilkenny were later defeated by Galway in the All-Ireland semi-final.
