Adelbert Rinaldo Buffington
Adelbert Rinaldo Buffington (November 22, 1837 – July 10, 1922) was a United States Army Brigadier General who served as the 10th Chief of Ordnance for the U.S. Army Ordnance Corps. Biography Adelbert Rinaldo Buffington was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, on 22 November 1837. When he entered the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1856, the standard course was five years in length. Buffington graduated seventh in the Class of May 1861. He was assigned to Ordnance and immediately placed on duty in Washington, where he trained volunteer soldiers for several weeks. His predecessor as Chief of Ordnance, General Daniel W. Flagler who graduated in the Class of June 1861 performed similar responsibilities when he arrived in Washington several weeks later. In June 1861, Buffington was assigned to the St. Louis Arsenal and by April 1862, was commanding that facility. Biography Buffington, who was raised in La Jolla, played college tennis for UCLA and was a member of the 1984 NCAA Championship winning team. Byron A. Buffington (November 27, 1852 – October 1, 1929) was an American businessman and politician. Biography Born in Juneau, Wisconsin, Buffington was educated in the public schools in Eau Claire, Wisconsin and Faribault Military School in Faribault, Minnesota. Buffington was in the grocery, merchandise, and lumber businesses. He was also president of the Chippewa Valley Bank. Buffington served in the Wisconsin State Assembly in 1897 and 1899 as a Republican. George Buffington
George Augustus Buffington (June 29, 1825September 16, 1893) was a philanthropist, businessman, farmer, and politician in the Chippewa Valley of Wisconsin. Buffington was a prominent figure in the area and one of the wealthiest men in the city of Eau Claire. Life and career Buffington was born in Little Valley, Cattaraugus County, New York in 1825, the son of Isaiah and Sophia (Winchester) Buffington. He was raised in Onondaga County, New York, until he was seventeen years old. He then came with his parents to Walworth County, Wisconsin, where he worked at farming, teaming, or anything by which he could make a living. In 1846, he married Pluma A. Jones. In the same year, he bought a piece of land nearby and had a log cabin built. Subsequently, he purchased a stage line running from Kenosha to Beloit. Joseph Buffington (November 27, 1803 – February 3, 1872) was a Whig member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. Joseph Buffington was born in West Chester, Pennsylvania. He attended the common schools and graduated from Western University of Pennsylvania, now known as the University of Pittsburgh, in 1825. He moved to Butler County, Pennsylvania, and edited a weekly newspaper. He studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1826 and commenced practice in Butler. He moved to Kittanning, Pennsylvania, in 1827 and continued the practice of law. Buffington was elected as a Whig to the Twenty-eighth and Twenty-ninth Congresses.
