Buffalo Stampede
The Buffalo Stampede was a basketball team in the Atlantic Coast Professional Basketball League (ACPBL) that started as a franchise in the Premier Basketball League (PBL) in the 2009 season. The team was originally the NexxNow Buffalo Dragons (called Buffalo Dragons in shorthand) The team was first owned by NexxNow Inc. However, Vincent Lesh, the owner of the modern American Basketball Association Buffalo Sharks (the team formerly known as the ''Silverbacks'' and ''Rapids'') folded that club, left the ABA, and bought the Dragons from NexxNow, renaming them the Buffalo Stampede. The team was to play their home games at the Burt Flickinger Center at Erie Community College, however with Lesh's purchase they moved to what was going to be the Sharks venue, the Koessler Athletic Center at Canisius College. Premier Basketball League
The Premier Basketball League, often abbreviated to the PBL, is an American professional men's basketball minor league that began play in January 2008. The league folded after the 2017 season. It was announced that the league would be revived under new management for the 2020 season. The league announced due coronavirus outbreak the season would be put on hold. Richard Jacob
Richard L. Jacob Ph.D. (born September 24, 1958, in Niagara Falls, New York), is a sports coach and professor. He graduated from Niagara Catholic High School and Eisenhower College and obtained master's degrees in physical education and educational counseling at Canisius College and Niagara University, respectively. He later received his doctorate from SUNY Buffalo in school/educational psychology. In November 2006, he became interim chair of the business department at Medaille College. He currently is a professor of sport psychology at Medaille and is the head of the college's Sport Management program. In his career as a coach, he has worked both at the collegiate and professional ranks. He was head coach of Buffalo's Buffalo Rapids basketball team from 2005 to 2006. Koessler Athletic Center is a 2,196-seat multi-purpose arena in Buffalo, New York on the campus of Canisius College. Burt Flickinger Center is a multipurpose indoor venue located in downtown Buffalo, New York. The venue is named after Burt Prentice Flickinger, Jr., an heir to the S.M. Flickinger food distribution company who spearheaded efforts to bring the 1993 World University Games to Buffalo. The venue was originally constructed for the 1993 World University Games and is now used full-time by the Erie Kats, SUNY Erie's athletic program. The Buffalo Sharks were a professional basketball team in the American Basketball Association based in Buffalo, New York. The team played two seasons as the Buffalo Rapids and Buffalo Silverbacks before suspending operations. This team is not to be confused with the Buffalo Stampede of the Premier Basketball League.
