Buddy Powers
Francis "Buddy" Powers is an American former ice hockey player, coach and scout. He was the head coach for Bowling Green as well as Ice Arena Director for the Slater Family Ice Arena and color commentator for Bowling Green on The Buckeye Cable Sports Network. Playing career Powers played left wing for three seasons at Boston University (BU) from 1972 to '75. He played 90 games during his time at BU, which placed third in the 1974 and ’75 NCAA Tournaments and compiled a 49-13-1 record over his final two years with the team. After graduating from BU in 1975, Powers went on to play professional hockey in Europe. He played two years (1976–78) as a defenseman for ESV Kaufbeuren and helped the team to a Division II Championship during his first season. He finished his playing career at Krefeld, Germany in 1979-80, assisting the team to the playoff finals. Bowling Green Falcons Men's Ice Hockey
The Bowling Green Falcons ice hockey team is the ice hockey team that represents Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. The school's team competes in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. The Falcons last played in the NCAA Men's Division I Ice Hockey Tournament in 2019. The Falcons have won one NCAA Division I championship, coming in 1984, defeating the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs in the longest championship game in the tournament's history. ESV Kaufbeuren (ESVK) is a professional ice hockey team based in Kaufbeuren, Germany. ECAC Hockey
ECAC Hockey is one of the six conferences that compete in NCAA Division I ice hockey. The conference used to be affiliated with the Eastern College Athletic Conference, a consortium of over 300 colleges in the eastern United States. This relationship ended in 2004; however, the ECAC abbreviation was retained in the name of the hockey conference. George McPhee
George McPhee (born July 2, 1958) is a Canadian ice hockey executive currently serving as the president of hockey operations for the Vegas Golden Knights of the National Hockey League (NHL). McPhee served general manager of the Washington Capitals and has also served as alternate governor, vice president and special assistant to the general manager of the New York Islanders. Resigning as the Golden Knights general manager on September 1, 2019, McPhee continues to serve as president of hockey operations. Before becoming an executive, McPhee was also a professional ice hockey Forward. Although he was not drafted, he won the Hobey Baker Award in 1982 as the best NCAA men's ice hockey player, and played for the New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils. Kelly Perrault
Kelly Perrault (born December 18, 1973) is a Canadian retired ice hockey defenseman who was an All-American for Bowling Green Career Perrault's college career began in 1993 with Bowling Green. After a decent freshman campaign, the Falcons got a new head coach in Buddy Powers. The change in leadership coincided with Perrault's offensive numbers taking off and he nearly tripled his totals as a sophomore. The astounding jump led to Perrault being named an All-American. Despite helping the team finish with a 25–11–2 record, BG got snubbed by the NCAA selection committee and was left out of the NCAA Tournament. Perrault continued his pace as a junior and senior but couldn't stop his team from declining in his final year. After the college season was over, Perrault signed a professional contract with the Chicago Wolves and ended the season in the IHL playoffs. Spencer Penrose Award
The Spencer Penrose Award is awarded yearly to the top coach in NCAA Division I men's ice hockey by the American Hockey Coaches Association. The finalists for each year's award comprise the conference Coach of the Year winners from each Division I men's ice hockey conference, plus the coaches of the four Frozen Four teams. Jerry York
Jerry York (born July 25, 1945) is an American former ice hockey coach who was the men's ice hockey coach at Boston College. York is the winningest coach in NCAA hockey, and leads the all-time list as the only Division I head coach with over 1,000 wins. He has won the NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey title five times as a coach, at Bowling Green State University in 1984 and at Boston College in 2001, 2008, 2010 and 2012, tying him with Murray Armstrong for second-most all-time behind only Vic Heyliger (6). Terry Slater (ice Hockey)
Terry Slater (December 5, 1937 – December 5, 1991) was a Canadian ice hockey player and coach. In the World Hockey Association, he coached the teams Los Angeles Sharks and Cincinnati Stingers. Career Born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Slater began his career in 1958 at St. Lawrence University, where he was a two time All American, and played hockey in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. In his first season, he scored 50 points in 22 games. After two more seasons at St. Lawrence University, Slater was in 1961 in the former professional hockey league Western Hockey League and signed a contract with the Los Angeles Blades.
