Buddy England is a British-born Australian singer and songwriter Career As a solo artist from 1963 to 1969, England released several singles on HMV Records, including "If You'll Stay", "Doll House", "There Goes My Baby", "Movin' Man", "Sunny", "I'm Going For You", and "If I Never Get To Love You". "Movin' Man" was used in an advertisement for Gilbey's gin. From 1967 to 1979, England returned to the UK and continued writing and recording for EMI at Abbey Road, releasing several singles, including "Forgive and Forget", "The Name of My Sorrow", "Wonderful World" and "In Need of a Friend". From 1970 to 1971, England owned and launched Air Records and produced all of its artists, including the Vibrants, Love Story, Tadpole, Mick Hamilton, the Tangerine Balloon and Tony Pantano. HMV Group
Sunrise Records and Entertainment, trading as HMV (for His Master's Voice), is a British music and entertainment retailer, currently operating exclusively in the United Kingdom. The first HMV-branded store was opened by the Gramophone Company on London's Oxford Street in 1921, and the HMV name was also used for television and radio sets manufactured from the 1930s onwards. The retail side of the business began to expand in the 1960s, and in 1998 was divested from EMI, the successor to the Gramophone Company, to form what would become HMV Group. HMV stands for His Master's Voice, the title of a painting by Francis Barraud of Nipper listening to a Phonograph cylinder, bought by the Gramophone Company in 1899. Astor Records
Astor Records was an Australian recorded music manufacturer and distributor that operated from the early 1960s to the early 1980s. Astor was the trade name of the consumer electronics manufacturer Radio Corporation Pty. Ltd, a division of Electronic Industries Ltd., which also made Astor radios, radiograms and television sets. The company expanded into record production in mid-1960, and operated its own vinyl record pressing plant in Melbourne. The company's inaugural release was the single "Speak Low"/"Come Closer to Me" by Philippine-born vocalist Pilita Corrales (credited as Pilita). Three of her albums were released on the Astor label: ''I'll Take Romance'', ''This Is Pilita'' and ''Pilita Tells the Story of Love''. ''The Seekers'' is the seventh studio album by Australian group the Seekers. The album was released in May 1975. Louisa Wisseling provided the vocals. It was the first The Seekers' album not to feature the vocals of Judith Durham. The lead single "Sparrow Song" was released in May 1975, peaking at number 7 on the Kent Music Report. A second single "Reunion" was released in November 1975 and peaked at number 83. Background The Seekers had been a successful group in the 1960s, disbanding in July 1968 when lead singer Judith Durham left the group. In 1972, the band planned to reform, but needed a suitable female vocalist to replace Durham. The Seekers
The Seekers were an Australian folk-influenced pop quartet, originally formed in Melbourne in 1962. They were the first Australian pop music group to achieve major chart and sales success in the United Kingdom and the United States. They were especially popular during the 1960s with their best-known configuration of Judith Durham on vocals, piano and tambourine; Athol Guy on double bass and vocals; Keith Potger on twelve-string guitar, banjo and vocals; and Bruce Woodley on guitar, mandolin, banjo and vocals.
