Adam Buddle
Adam Buddle (1662–1715) was an English cleric and botanist. Born at Deeping St James, a small village near Peterborough, Buddle was educated at Woodbridge School and St Catharine's College, Cambridge, where he gained a BA in 1681, and an MA four years later. Buddle was eventually ordained into the Church of England, obtaining a living at North Fambridge, near Maldon, Essex, in 1703. His life between graduation and ordination remains obscure, although it is known he lived in or around Hadleigh, Suffolk, that he established a reputation as an authority on bryophytes, and that he married Elizabeth Eveare in 1695, with whom he had two children. Buddle compiled a new ''English Flora'', completed in 1708, but it was never published; the original manuscript is preserved as part of the Sloane collection at the Natural History Museum, London. Edson Buddle
Edson Michael Buddle (born May 21, 1981) is an American retired Footballer who is currently the head coach of USL League Two side Westchester Flames. He is one of only 11 players to have scored 100 goals in Major League Soccer history. Buddle began his career in North America in 2000 with the Long Island Rough Riders, who played in the A-League at that time. He then spent 2001 to 2010 in Major League Soccer, playing for the Columbus Crew, New York Red Bulls, Toronto FC, and LA Galaxy. After a one-year stint with FC Ingolstadt 04 in Germany's 2. Errol Leslie Buddle (29 April 1928 – 22 February 2018) was an Australian jazz musician. Biography Errol Buddle was born on 29 April 1928, and raised in Adelaide. Buddle first learned the banjo and mandolin. He began learning jazz after listening to a Bobby Limb performance in 1944. Buddle attended the Elder Conservatorium of Music as well as the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Influenced by the sound of the bassoon in Igor Stravinsky's ''The Rite of Spring'' and ''The Firebird'', Buddle began playing the instrument. Over the course of his career, Buddle played fourteen reed instruments and several others. Buddle moved to Melbourne in 1946 and began playing the radio circuit. He relocated to Sydney by 1951 and performed weekly at the nightclub Chequers'. Buddle and Don Varella moved to Windsor, Ontario, in 1952, where Buddle joined the Windsor Symphony Orchestra. John Buddle
John Buddle (15 September 1773 – 10 October 1843) was a prominent self-made mining engineer and entrepreneur in North East England. He had a major influence on the development of the Northern Coalfield in the first half of the 19th century, contributing to the safety of mining coal by innovations such as the introduction of the Davy Lamp, the keeping of records of ventilation, and the prevention of flooding. He was also interested in shipping as an owner, and built Seaham Harbour, establishing an important trade dock. He was chairman of the company that built the Tyne Dock at South Shields, and was also involved in the creation of two harbours and the development of a tunnel. Thomas Buddle
Thomas Buddle (24 December 1812 – 27 June 1883) was a New Zealand missionary and Wesleyan Methodist leader. Early Life Thomas Buddle was born in Durham, County Durham, England on 24 December 1812, the son of Mary Anderson and Mathew Buddle. Buddle was ordained by the Wesleyan Methodist Conference in 1839. On 16 August 1839 he married Sarah Dixon (1813-1884) also of Durham. They immigrated to New Zealand the next month together with several other missionaries on the Wesleyan-Methodist Missionary Society's schooner ''Triton''. They arrived in Hokianga in May 1840. They had ten children in the next twenty years. Life as a Missionary in New Zealand Thomas and Sarah Buddle served as missionaries among the Māori people at Whāingaroa, Porirua, Waipā, and Te Kōpua. They opened several mission schools and baptised many Māori leaders. Geoffrey Armstrong Buddle
Major Geoffrey Armstrong Buddle (16 September 1887 – 9 June 1951) was a New Zealand naturalist, ornithologist, and civil engineer, and a founding member of the Ornithological Society of New Zealand. He was the grandson of the early Methodist missionary Thomas Buddle. Ornithological specimen collection Buddle built a scientific collection between 1890 and the 1940s consisting of 461 eggs and 41 other assorted items, and gave it to the Auckland War Memorial Museum in stages between 1931 and 1951. The collection contains specimens from the Subantarctic, mainland New Zealand, Stewart Island, Kermadec Islands, and Kanton Island (part of the Phoenix Islands in the Republic of Kiribati). Because of its size and scope, the collection provides important historical breeding records of birds, and is rated one of the most important bird collections in that museum.
