Bud And Travis
Bud & Travis was an American folk music duo from San Francisco, California, consisting of Bud Dashiell and Travis Edmonson. Bud & Travis began recording together in 1958; Edmonson was related to Colin Edmonson, whom Dashiell had met while serving in the Korean War. Travis Edmonson had previously been a member of the Gateway Singers. They released multiple singles and albums and toured widely before splitting in 1965, becoming significant musicians on the folk revival circuit. Edmonson and Dashiell reportedly had frequent clashes, and the duo separated from 1960 to 1963. During this period Dashiell put out several records with The Kinsmen, and Edmonson put out several solo albums. Dashiell went solo after their final breakup in 1965, putting out a solo album in 1968. He taught late in life, and died in 1989 as a result of a brain tumor. Edmonson toured regularly in the 1970s as a solo act. He died on May 9, 2009. David Holt (born October 15, 1946 in Gatesville, Texas) is a musician who performs traditional American music and stories. A four-time Grammy Award winner, Holt plays 10 acoustic instruments and has released recordings of traditional mountain music and southern folktales, hosted '' Riverwalk'', a jazz program on public radio, ''Folkways'', a television program on folk music and culture, ''Great Scenic Railway Journeys'', and ''North Carolina Mountain Treasures'' on North Carolina public television. Katie Lee (October 23, 1919 – November 1, 2017) was an American folk singer, actress, writer, photographer and environmental activist. From the 1950s, Lee often sang about rivers and white water rafting. Tradition Records was an American record label from 1955 to 1966 that specialized in folk music. The label was founded and financed by Guggenheim heiress Diane Hamilton in 1956. Its president and director was Patrick "Paddy" Clancy, who was soon to join his brothers Liam and Tom Clancy and Tommy Makem, as part of the new Irish folk group, The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem. The Troubadour is a nightclub located in West Hollywood, California, United States, at 9081 Santa Monica Boulevard just east of Doheny Drive and the border of Beverly Hills. Horizon Records was an American independent record label founded in 1960 by Dave Hubert. Horizon was originally a folk and blues label distributed by World Pacific Records. When Liberty Records acquired World Pacific in 1965, it also took over the distribution of Horizon. Clarence Carson Parks II (26 April 1936 – 22 June 2005), also known as C. Carson Parks, was an American songwriter, music publisher, musician and singer, best known for writing the hit song "Somethin' Stupid". His younger brother is the composer Van Dyke Parks.
