Settled initially and primarily by Romanians and subsequently by Ruthenians (Ukrainians) during the 4th century, it became part of the Kievan Rus' in the 10th century and then the Principality of Moldavia during the 14th century. The region has been sparsely populated since the Paleolithic, with several now extinct peoples inhabiting it. Prislop Pass
Prislop Pass ( ro, Pasul Prislop), is a mountain pass in northern Romania, connecting the historical regions of Maramureş (historical region), Maramureş and Bukovina over the Rodna Mountains, in the Eastern Carpathians. The Prislop Pass is situated at an elevation of 1,416 meters. The closest city is Borșa.
