Buck Scholarship
The Frank H. Buck Scholarships were scholarships awarded annually by the Frank H. and Eva B. Buck Foundation to twelve to fifteen California students to assist with the costs of college. They were intended to supplement any other financial aid awarded to the recipient so that all the ordinary costs of an education were covered. The foundation, which existed from 1989 to 2016, also provided grant support to educational institutions, libraries, and other nonprofit organizations in support of education. Eva Buck, wife of former United States congressman Frank H. Buck, started the foundation as the Solano Foundation in 1989 and chose the first two scholarship recipients. After her death the following year, it was renamed to honor her and her husband, and its headquarters moved to the 1891 Frank H. Buck house in Vacaville, California, the congressman's childhood home. A scholarship is a form of financial aid awarded to students for further education. Generally, scholarships are awarded based on a set of criteria such as academic merit, diversity and inclusion, athletic skill, and financial need. Scholarship criteria usually reflect the values and goals of the donor of the award, and while scholarship recipients are not required to repay scholarships, the awards may require that the recipient continue to meet certain requirements during their period of support, such maintaining a minimum grade point average or engaging in a certain activity (e.g., playing on a school sports team for athletic scholarship holders). Scholarships also range in generosity; some range from covering partial tuition ranging all the way to a 'full-ride', covering all tuition, accommodation, housing and others. Vacaville, California
Vacaville is a city located in Solano County in Northern California. Sitting approximately from Sacramento and from San Francisco, it is within the Sacramento Valley. As of the 2020 census, Vacaville had a population of 102,386, making it the third largest city in Solano County. History Prior to European contact, the indigenous Patwin tribe lived in the area with the Ululato tribelet establishing a chiefdom around the Ululato village in what is now downtown Vacaville along the Ulatis Creek. The early settler pioneers of the land were Juan Manuel Cabeza Vaca and Juan Felipe Peña who were awarded a Mexican land grant in 1842. California's 3rd congressional district is a U.S. congressional district in California. John Garamendi, a Democrat, has represented the district since January 2013. Effective January 2023, California's 3rd congressional district will include much of the Sierra Nevada and many of the northeastern suburbs of Sacramento, stretching south to Death Valley. Yul Kwon
Yul Julius Kwon (born February 14, 1975) is an American television host and former government official, lawyer, and management consultant based in California. He first gained national recognition and popularity as the winner of the reality TV show '' Survivor: Cook Islands'' in 2006. He appeared again in '' Survivor: Winners at War'', where he placed 14th. Kwon hosted the 2012 four-part TV series ''America Revealed'' on PBS as well as ''LinkAsia'' on Link TV.
