Buchalter Cosmology Prize
The Buchalter Cosmology Prize, established in 2014, is a prestigious annual prize bestowed by Dr. Ari Buchalter. Every year, three Buchalter Prizes are awarded in recognition of ground-breaking work in Physical cosmology, cosmology with the potential to produce a breakthrough advance in our understanding of how the Universe works, particularly by substantially extending or challenging currently-accepted models. The first, second, and third prize come with a prize money of $10,000, $5,000, and $2,500 respectively. The winners are typically announced in the January meeting of the American Astronomical Society (AAS), placing it ''de facto'' among the annual AAS prizes. Perimeter Institute
Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics (PI, Perimeter, PITP) is an independent research centre in foundational theoretical physics located in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. It was founded in 1999. Anne-Christine Davis
Anne-Christine Davis is a British theoretical physicist at the University of Cambridge. She was the first woman to be appointed a professor in the Faculty of Mathematics at the University. Her research mainly concerns cosmology, astrophysics and string theory. Davis was a graduate student at Bristol University, under the supervision of W. Noel Cottingham. She obtained her doctorate in 1975. Following postdoctoral positions at Durham University and Imperial College London, Davis worked overseas at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland (where she became the first female theoretician) and at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. Levon Pogosian
Levon Pogosian is a cosmologist and a Professor of Physics at Simon Fraser University. Pogosian works on a range topics that include cosmic microwave background, large scale structure, dark energy and modified gravity, observational probes of physics beyond Standard Model, cosmic (super)strings and other topological defects, and cosmological magnetic fields. Lars Hernquist (14 December 1954) is a theoretical astrophysicist and Mallinckrodt Professor of Astrophysics at the Center for Astrophysics Harvard & Smithsonian. He is best known for his research on dynamical processes in cosmology and galaxy formation/galaxy evolution. Anastasia Fialkov ( he, אנסטסיה פילאקוב ) is a Kazakhstan-born Israeli theoretical astrophysicist, currently a professor in the Institute of Astronomy of the University of Cambridge, England, and a senior research fellow of Magdalene College, Cambridge. Matias Zaldarriaga is an Argentinean cosmologist. Life Born in Coghlan neighbourhood, Buenos Aires, at the present time he works in the Institute for Advanced Study located in Princeton, New Jersey, United States. He is known especially for his work on the cosmic microwave background (CMB). Together with Uros Seljak, he developed the CMBFAST code, the first computationally efficient method for computing the anisotropy of the CMB for an arbitrary set of cosmological parameters.
