Bubba Bean
Earnest Ray "Bubba" Bean is a former American football running back with the Atlanta Falcons in the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted ninth overall in the first round of the 1976 NFL draft. Bubba played three seasons for the Falcons between 1976 and 1979. Career Bean played running back in college for Texas A&M Aggies football, Texas A&M University. He was a four-year starter there. In his senior year, Bean was featured on the cover of ''Sports Illustrated''. Bean rushed for 2,846 yards at Texas A&M. In the 1976 season, the rookie rushed for 428 yards on 128 rushes for an average of 3.5 yards per carry. Despite being sidelined for the entire 1977 season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament, he came back in 1978 to enjoy his best season, rushing for 707 yards on 193 attempts and catching 31 passes for another 209 yards. Kirbyville, Texas
Kirbyville is a city in Jasper County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,036 at the 2020 census. History Early Development The town was first established in 1895 when the Gulf, Beaumont, and Kansas City railroad reached the site. It was first named Kirby for John Henry Kirby, a lumber businessman who intended to use the site for building a facility to market his lumber. The post office was established the same year, but the name was changed to Kirbyville when a town already called Kirby was discovered. The town became incorporated in 1926. Significant Events On September 24, 2005, Hurricane Rita made landfall in extreme Southwest Louisiana as a Category 3 hurricane. The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is one of a pair of cruciate ligaments (the other being the posterior cruciate ligament) in the human knee. The two ligaments are also called "cruciform" ligaments, as they are arranged in a crossed formation. In the quadruped stifle joint (analogous to the knee), based on its anatomical position, it is also referred to as the cranial cruciate ligament. The term cruciate translates to cross. William Andrews (American Football)
William Andrews (born December 25, 1955) is a former NFL football running back. He played collegiately at Auburn University along with future NFL backs James Brooks and Joe Cribbs. Andrews was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the third round of the 1979 NFL Draft. While he was primarily used as a blocking back in college, Andrews excelled as a blocker, runner and pass catcher during his pro career. He would make an immediate impact, finishing with 167 yards rushing in his NFL debut as the Falcons defeated the New Orleans Saints, 40-34. Playing in 15 games, Andrews finished his rookie season with 1,023 yards rushing and was named to the all-rookie team. Yards Per Carry
In gridiron football, a carry or rushing attempt is a statistical term equivalent to a single rushing play. The term is typically used in reference to "yards per carry", meaning yards per attempt rushing the ball. Although running backs are typically tasked with carrying the ball, any offensive player who performs a carry is known as a ball-carrier for that play, regardless of position. The yards gained on a carry are referred to as rushing yards. In the National Football League (NFL), Emmitt Smith holds the record for the most career carries, with 4,409. The current leader in yards-per-carry in NFL history with at least 750 carries is quarterback Michael Vick. The statistical treatment of yardage lost on sacks differs between the NCAA and NFL.
