Bryson is a village and municipality in the Pontiac Regional County Municipality in the Outaouais region of Quebec, Canada. It is located on the northern bank of the Ottawa River. History From 1858 to 1873, the village was called Havelock in honor of British general Henry Havelock (1795-1857). Because another Havelock Township had already been incorporated two years prior in the province of Quebec, Havelock was renamed in 1873 after local lumber baron and politician George Bryson when the Municipality of the Village of Bryson was incorporated. On December 20, 2004, it changed status from Village Municipality to (regular) Municipality. Bryson City is a town in Swain County, North Carolina in the United States. The population was 1558 as of the 2020 Census. It is the county seat of Swain County. Located in what was historically the land of the Cherokee, Bryson City was founded as the Charleston to serve as the county seat of Swain County when it was formed from parts of surrounding counties. It grew into an important local rail hub. Bryson is a city in Jack County, Texas, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 539. Geography Bryson is located in western Jack County at (33.160523, –98.387805). It is situated southwest of Jacksboro, the county seat, along U.S. Highway 380. US 380 continues southwest to Graham, the county seat of Young County. According to the United States Census Bureau, Bryson has a total area of , of which are land and , or 7.64%, are water. The water area encompasses Lake Bryson, a reservoir northwest of the city. Bryson is in the Rock Creek watershed, flowing south to the Brazos River. History The community was first settled in the late 19th century. The Bryson Apartment Hotel is a historic , ten-story apartment building on Wilshire Boulevard in the MacArthur Park section of Los Angeles, California. Built in 1913 in the Beaux Arts style, it was one of the most luxurious residential buildings in Los Angeles for many years. The building is also closely associated with the city's film noir history, having been featured in Raymond Chandler's works and the 1990 neo-noir '' The Grifters''. The building's stone lions and large rooftop "Bryson" sign have become Los Angeles landmarks.
