Bryan Phelan
Bryan Phelan (born 1979) is an Irish sportsman. He plays hurling with his local club De La Salle and with the Waterford senior inter-county team. Career Club Phelan has played from a young age with his local club, De La Salle. While not having much success at first, 2008 turned out to be a fruitful year. Phelan played a vital role in De La Salle's first ever Waterford Senior Hurling Championship beating Abbeyside in the final. Phelan followed this up with victory in the Munster Senior Club Hurling Championship later that year. In the 2008/2009 All-Ireland Club semi-final, De La Salle were struggling against Ruairí Óg GAC being a point down deep in injury time. From over 75 meters out, Phelan cut a side-line ball over the bar to force the game into extra time. De La Salle later progressed to the final. Munster Senior Hurling Championship
The Munster GAA Hurling Senior Championship, known simply as the Munster Championship, is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition organised by the Munster GAA, Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition in the province of Munster, and has been contested every year since the 1888 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship#Munster Senior Hurling Championship, 1888 championship. National Hurling League
The National Hurling League is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into six divisions, with either five or six teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league. Ruairí Óg Gaelic Athletic Club, also known as Ruairí Óg and Cushendall is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Cushendall, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The club is almost exclusively concerned with the game of hurling. The club was founded in 1906 and is named after Ruairí Óg Ó Mórdha (c. 1600 – 1655), who led the Catholic side in the Irish Rebellion of 1641. De La Salle Gaelic football and hurling club is based in Waterford City, Ireland. The club competes in Gaelic games competitions organised by Waterford GAA board. The club has won the Waterford Senior Hurling Championship twice and the Waterford Senior Football Championship on 6 occasions. While having a notable record in gaelic football, today the club mainly focuses on hurling. History The club takes its name from St. Stephens De La Salle National School in Patrick Street and previous to the current club being established, fielded a hurling team under the name of St. Stephens.
