Bruno Ruffo
Bruno Ruffo (9 December 1920 – 10 February 2007 ) was an Italian Grand Prix motorcycle road racer born in Verona. He won three Grand Prix World Championships. In 1949 he won the inaugural 250cc World Championship riding for the Italian Moto Guzzi factory. During the 1950 season, Ruffo was annoyed that Moto Guzzi instructed him to let his teammate win the Championship that year while he finished third. That same year, Ruffo rode a Mondial to claim the 125cc World Championship. In 1951 he once again captured the 250cc World Champion with four victories. Ruffo retired in 1952 after an accident and opened a successful vehicle hire business in Verona. He died at 86 years old. 1949 Nations Motorcycle Grand Prix
The 1949 Nations Grand Prix was the fifth round of the 1949 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season. It took place at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza. Italian rider Nello Pagani won the 500 cc race riding a Gilera from Arciso Artesiani and Bill Doran. The Italian motorcycle Grand Prix is a motorcycling event that is part of the Grand Prix motorcycle racing season. The French motorcycle Grand Prix is a motorcycling event that is part of the World Motorcycle Racing season. The Grand Prix was held on different circuits in its history: on the Charade Circuit (Puy-de-Dôme) between 1959 and 1967, Le Mans circuit on numerous occasions since 1969, alternating with the Paul Ricard Circuit at Le Castellet, used it for the first time in 1973, the Circuit Paul Armagnac in Nogaro in 1978 and 1982 and the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours once in 1992. Belgian Motorcycle Grand Prix
The Belgian motorcycle Grand Prix is a motorcycling event that was part of the Grand Prix motorcycle racing season from 1949 to 1990. History The first official Belgian grand prix was held in 1949, but non-championship races were held as far back as 1921. Every Belgian GP was held at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, with the exception of the 1980 season when the round moved to the Zolder circuit due to problems with the new asphalt at Spa-Francorchamps in 1979. After the problems were resolved, Spa-Francorchamps became the host again from 1981 onwards. The last race was held in 1990, and was subject to controversy. The 1950 Isle of Man Tourist Trophy festival was the second year the Isle of Man TT races were part of the Grand Prix World Championship. After his win in the 1949 Isle of Man Clubman event, Geoff Duke entered the 1950 Isle of Man TT only to find himself racing against formidable opposition in his first Senior TT, not only from his experienced Norton team mates, Artie Bell, Harold Daniell and Johnny Lockett, but also Les Graham on an AJS Porcupine, Reg Armstrong and Bob Foster on Velocettes.
