Bruno Piva
Bruno Piva (born 16 May 1946 in Rovigo) is an Italian politician. He has been chief physician of pain management at Rovigo Hospital. As a member of the centre-right party The People of Freedom, he ran for Mayor of Rovigo at the 2011 Italian local elections. He was elected on 30 May and took office on 21 June 2011. ''il Resto del Carlino'' is an Italian newspaper based in Bologna, and is one of the oldest newspapers in Italy. Its rather evocative name means "the change you get from a ''carlino''", which the smallest part of the Papal ''baiocco'' (no longer legal tender in united Italy but a word still used in Bologna to refer to 10 cent coins): a sheet of local news was given out in shops to make up for the change owing after buying a cigar (which was worth 8 cents). 2011 Italian Local Elections
The 2011 Italian local elections were held on 15–16 May, with a second round on 29–30 May. In Italy, direct elections were held in all 1,177 municipalities and 11 provinces: in each comune, municipality (''comune'') were chosen mayor and members of the City Council, in each Provinces of Italy, province were chosen president and members of the Provincial Council. Of the 1,177 municipalities, 30 were provincial capital municipalities and only 105 had a population higher than 15,000 inhabitants.
