Ferdinand Brucker
Ferdinand Brucker (January 8, 1858 – March 3, 1904) was an American lawyer and politician from the U.S. state of Michigan. He served one term in the United States House of Representatives from 1897 to 1899. Early life and education Brucker was born in Bridgeport, Michigan, where he attended the common schools. He was a member of the State militia 1878-1881. He graduated from the law department of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor in 1881, was admitted to the bar the same year, and commenced practice in Saginaw. Political career He was an alderman of East Saginaw, 1882–1884, a judge of the probate court of Saginaw County, 1888–1896, and a delegate to the 1896 Democratic National Convention. Jane Brucker
Jane Rachel Brucker (born May 14, 1958) is an American actress best known for playing the part of Lisa Houseman, Baby's elder sister in the hit 1987 film ''Dirty Dancing''. Life and career Brucker was born in Falls Church, Virginia. She studied theater at the North Carolina School of the Arts, and worked with the improv group, First Amendment, in New York. One of her classmates was Bruce Willis. She was married to actor Brian O'Connor from 1986 to 1993. Their daughter, Sally O'Connor, was born in 1989. In November 2001 she wed photographer Raul Vega; they have a daughter, Rachel, born in 2003. Johann Jakob Brucker
Johann Jakob Brucker (; la, Jacobus Bruckerus; 22 January 1696 – 26 November 1770) was a German historian of philosophy. Life He was born at Augsburg. He was destined for the Lutheran Church, and graduated at the University of Jena in 1718. He returned to Augsburg in 1720, but became parish minister of Kaufbeuren in 1723. In 1731 he was elected a member of the Academy of Sciences at Berlin, and was invited to return again to Augsburg as pastor and senior minister of the Church of St. Ulrich. He died at Augsburg. Works His chief work, ''Historia Critica Philosophiae'' ("Critical History of Philosophy"), appeared at Leipzig (originally 5 vols., 1742–1744). Its success was such that a new edition was published in six volumes (1766–1767; English translation by William Enfield, 1791). It is by this work alone that Brucker is now known. Roger Brucker
Roger W. Brucker (born July 27, 1929) is an American cave explorer and author of books about caves. He is most closely associated with Mammoth Cave in Kentucky, the world's longest cave, which he has been exploring and writing about since 1954. Early life and education After graduating from Oberlin College with an art degree in 1951, Brucker enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio where he wrote and directed documentary, technical and training films. While in the Air Force, Brucker was temporarily stationed in New York City, where he became friends with some people who introduced him to caving, through the National Speleological Society (NSS). He participated in Floyd Collins' Crystal Cave (C-3) Expedition in Kentucky in 1954, in which dozens of explorers spent one week underground, in an effort to determine if Crystal Cave might be connected with other caves.
