Bruce Stephens
Blue Cheer was an American Rock music, rock band that initially performed and recorded in the late 1960s and early 1970s and was sporadically active until 2009. Based in San Francisco, Blue Cheer played in a psychedelic rock, psychedelic blues rock or acid rock style, and are also credited as being some of the earliest pioneers of heavy metal music, heavy metal, with their cover of "Summertime Blues" sometimes cited as the first in the genre. They have also been noted as influential in the development of genres as disparate as punk rock, stoner rock, doom metal, experimental rock, and grunge. "Summertime Blues" is a song co-written and recorded by American rock artist Eddie Cochran. It was written by Cochran and his manager Jerry Capehart. Originally a single B-side, it was released in August 1958 and peaked at number 8 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 on September 29, 1958, and number 18 on the UK Singles Chart. A power trio is a rock and roll band format having a lineup of electric guitar, bass guitar and drum kit (drums and cymbals), leaving out a second rhythm guitar or keyboard instrument that are often used in other rock music bands that are quartets and quintets. Eric Albronda (born November 18, 1945) is an American musician. Albronda was the first drummer for Blue Cheer, briefly, prior to being replaced by Paul Whaley. He also co-produced (with Leigh Stephens) ''Red Weather'', the first solo album by former Blue Cheer guitarist Leigh Stephens, as well as the eponymous solo album by one of Stephens' post Blue Cheer bands, Pilot. Leigh Stephens is an American guitarist and songwriter best known for being former lead guitarist of the San Francisco psychedelic rock group Blue Cheer. Blue Cheer Leigh Stephens has recorded two albums with the band, ''Vincebus Eruptum'' and ''Outsideinside''. He has claimed to have been the only member of the band who did not use drugs. His replacement as Blue Cheer's lead guitarist was Randy Holden. Gary Lee Yoder
Gary Lee Yoder (January 25, 1946 – August 7, 2021) was an American musician who was part of several 1960s San Francisco psychedelic rock bands, including the Oxford Circle, Kak, and Blue Cheer. Yoder was born in Pasadena, California. Oxford Circle (formed in 1966) and Kak (formed in 1968) were both formed in Yoder's hometown of Davis, California, and featured the same nucleus of members. While Oxford Circle frequently shared the stage with greats such as the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, and Janis Joplin, they did not achieve the same level of fame and never got a record deal. In 1997, a live album, ''Live at the Avalon 1966'' was released. Grunge
Grunge (sometimes referred to as the Seattle sound) is an alternative rock genre and subculture that emerged during the in the American Pacific Northwest state of Washington, particularly in Seattle and nearby towns. Grunge fuses elements of punk rock and heavy metal, but without punk's structure and speed. The genre featured the distorted electric guitar sound used in both genres, although some bands performed with more emphasis on one or the other.
