Bruce Mitchell (drummer)
Bruce Mitchell (born 6 June 1940) is an English jazz drummer, who plays regularly with Vini Reilly in the Durutti Column. Biography Mitchell was born in the suburb of Didsbury, in the south of Manchester, on 6 June 1940. He had no formal musical education. His father was a drummer and a bass player. He was in a Manchester trad band, around 1960, and during a time, he was a hippie. Prior to 1974 he was in the group Greasy Bear. In 1974 he joined comedy rock band Alberto y Lost Trios Paranoias; the band folded in 1982. He also helps run Manchester Light and Stage. Primavera Sound
Primavera Sound (commonly referred to as simply Primavera) is an annual music festival held in Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona, Spain that takes place between the end of May and beginning of June. The first edition took place in 2001 in Poble Espanyol and moved to the Parc del Fòrum, a much larger site on the seafront, in 2005. The nature of the festival (urban and an integrated part of the city) and the wide range of bands represented have made Primavera Sound a meeting point for artists and spectators from all generations. Primavera Sound is one of the largest and most-attended music festivals in Europe and the biggest in the Mediterranean. The success of the festival led to an expansion to Porto in 2012. This one takes place at the Parque da Cidade a week after the main edition. Vini Reilly
Vincent Gerard "Vini" Reilly (born 4 August 1953) is an English musician and leader of the post-punk group the Durutti Column. He is known for his distinctively clean, fluid guitar style, which stood out from his punk-era contemporaries in its incorporation of jazz, folk, and classical elements. In addition to his work under that group, Reilly has also collaborated with artists such as Morrissey, John Cooper Clarke, Pauline Murray, Anne Clark, and others. Biography Reilly was born on 4 August 1953 in Higher Blackley, Manchester, and raised in Withington, Wythenshawe and Didsbury, Manchester. His father was an engineer who did not allow his five children to watch television. At age 16, Reilly's father died. He later lamented that he did not admire or know him enough. As a youngster, Reilly was a talented footballer. He was offered a trial for Manchester City F.C., but he declined, opting to concentrate on music. ''LC'' is the second studio album by English band The Durutti Column. It was released in November 1981 through Manchester record label Factory. Background The album was the first to feature drummer and percussionist Bruce Mitchell. The song "The Missing Boy" is a tribute to songwriter Vini Reilly's friend and label-mate Ian Curtis of Joy Division, who committed suicide in the previous year. Alberto Y Lost Trios Paranoias
Alberto y Lost Trios Paranoias were an English comedy rock band, formed in Manchester, England in 1973. Their story is told in CP Lee's book ''When We Were Thin'' (published 2007 by Hotun Press). The name of the band is a corruption of the Latin American band Alberto y Los Trios Paraguayos. Career Created in 1972 by former member of Greasy Bear, Chris "C.P." Lee, with Jimmy Hibbert (vocals, bass) (ex Jacko Ogg and the Head People) and Bob Harding (vocals, guitar, bass), the comedy sketch outfit became a musical group in 1974 and was joined by former Greasy Bear (1968–1972) drummer Bruce Mitchell (drums), with Les Prior (vocals), Simon White (steel guitar, guitar), Tony Bowers (bass, guitar) and Ray "Mighty Mongo" Hughes (second drummer). A hippie, also spelled hippy, especially in British English, is someone associated with the counterculture of the 1960s, originally a youth movement that began in the United States during the mid-1960s and spread to different countries around the world.
