Bruce Massey (basketball)
Harold Bruce Massey (13 April 1906 – 9 July 1994) was a New Zealand cricketer who played first-class cricket for Wellington from 1927 to 1932. Bruce Massey made his debut in representative cricket in 1923 while still a student at Palmerston North Boys' High School. Playing for a combined Manawatu, Rangitikei and Wairarapa side against the touring MCC team, he opened the bowling in the second innings and took 4 for 14 off 11 overs. The MCC team's vice-captain, Jock Hartley, considered Massey the most promising young player they had seen in New Zealand. He made his first-class debut in the 1926-27 season, taking five wickets for Wellington against Auckland. In 1927-28 he played a match for The Rest against the returning New Zealand touring team. The New Zealand cricket team toured England in the 1927 season. The team contained many of the players who would later play Test cricket for New Zealand, but the tour did not include any Test matches and the 1927 English cricket season was the last, apart from the Second World War years and the cancelled South African tour of 1970, in which there was no Test cricket in England. Kenneth Cecil James (12 March 1904 – 21 August 1976), was a New Zealand Test cricketer who played for Wellington and Northamptonshire. He also served in New Zealand's Royal Air Force during second World War. Early career A wicket-keeper and a useful batsman, James first played for Wellington in 1923 and toured England with the first New Zealand touring party in 1927 ostensibly as second string to Tom Lowry. Otago Cricket Team
The Otago cricket team, nicknamed the Volts since the 1997–98 season, are a New Zealand first-class cricket team which first played representative cricket in 1864. The team represents the Otago, Southland and North Otago regions of New Zealand's South Island. Their main governing board is the Otago Cricket Association which is one of six major associations that make up New Zealand Cricket. The team plays most of its home games at the University Oval in Dunedin, but occasionally plays games at the Events Centre in Queenstown, Queen's Park Ground in Invercargill and Molyneux Park in Alexandra. The Auckland cricket team represent the Auckland region and are one of six New Zealand domestic first class cricket teams. Governed by the Auckland Cricket Association they are the most successful side having won 28 Plunket Shield titles, ten wins in The Ford Trophy and the Super Smash four times. The side currently play their home games at Eden Park Outer Oval. The limited overs side, known as the Auckland Aces, have a predominantly light blue kit with a navy and white trim. Jock Hartley
Colonel John Cabourn Hartley (15 November 1874 – 8 March 1963), known as Jock Hartley, was an English first-class cricketer and British Army officer. Cricket career Hartley was educated at Tonbridge School and Brasenose College, Oxford. He played first-class cricket for Oxford University from 1895 to 1897 and Sussex from 1895 to 1898. He then went on to play for Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) in first-class fixtures until the 1926 season. He was vice-captain of the MCC team in New Zealand in 1922-23, but captained most of the matches owing to an injury to the captain, Archie MacLaren. Hartley played two Test matches for England on their tour to South Africa in 1905-06, but with little success. His best first-class bowling figures were 8 for 161 for Oxford University in the first innings in Oxford's victory over Cambridge University in 1896.
