Bruce Horak
Bruce Horak (born August 5, 1974) is a Canadian artist and television and stage actor, known for portraying Hemmer on '' Star Trek: Strange New Worlds''. Horak is the first legally blind actor to portray a character in the ''Star Trek'' franchise. Early years Horak was born in Calgary, Alberta. At age 18 months, he was diagnosed with retinoblastoma, which caused him to lose his right eye and over 90% of the vision in his left eye. Horak's father, Karl Horak, was also visually impaired, having lost his left eye to disease. Horak developed an interest in writing and theater in third grade, when a theater company came to his school and put on a play. Horak attended at Mount Royal University, where he studied theater. Stratford is a city on the Avon River within Perth County in southwestern Ontario, Canada, with a 2016 population of 31,465 in a land area of . Stratford is the seat of Perth County, which was settled by English, Irish, Scottish and German immigrants, in almost equal numbers, starting in the 1820s but primarily in the 1830s and 1840s. Mark Meer is a Canadian actor, writer and improvisor, based in Edmonton, Alberta. He is known for his role in the ''Mass Effect'' trilogy, in which he stars as the voice of the player character, Commander Shepard. ''Star Trek: Very Short Treks'' (stylized as ''very Short Treks'') is a series of promotional short films created by Casper Kelly for the 50th anniversary of '' Star Trek: The Animated Series''.
