Brooke Louise Spence (born 4 March 1988) is an Australian football (soccer) player who played for Australian W-League team Brisbane Roar. Brisbane Roar Women Football Club, formerly known Queensland Roar Women, is an Australian professional women's football club based in Brisbane, Queensland (founded in 2008). The Roar competes in the country's premier women's soccer competition, the A-League Women. History Early years Brisbane Roar (then Queensland Roar) were a founding member of the W-League in 2008. The team was initially coached by Welshman Jeff Hopkins, who had played his football career predominantly in England, as well as representing Wales at the international level. The playing roster featured a mix of youth and veterans, including founding captain and Matilda's stalwart, Kate McShea, and up-and-coming goalkeeper Casey Dumont. AFF Women's Championship
The AFF Women's Championship is the competition in women's football organised by the ASEAN Football Federation, contested by the national teams of nations in Southeast Asia and Australia. The official tournament started in 2004, hosted by Vietnam and won by Myanmar. Results A 2017 edition was planned in Thailand but was later cancelled by the ASEAN Football Federation in February 2017 citing the big amount of major women's football tournament already scheduled in Asia for the year. A-League Women Players
A-League Men (known as the Isuzu UTE A-League for sponsorship reasons) is the highest-level professional men's soccer league in Australia and New Zealand. At the top of the Australian league system, it is the country's premier men's competition for the sport. A-League Men was established in 2004 as the A-League by the Football Federation Australia (FFA) as a successor to the National Soccer League (NSL) and competition commenced in August 2005. The 2008 AFF Women's Championship was held from 8 October to 20 October 2008, hosted by Vietnam. All games were played at the Thanh Long Sports Centre in Ho Chi Minh City. 2008–09 W-League
The 2008–09 W-League was the first season of the W-League, the top Australian professional women's soccer league, since its establishment in 2008. The season was played over 10 rounds, followed by a finals series. Queensland Roar were crowned as ''Premiers'' for winning the home-and-away season and also ''Champions'' after defeating Canberra United 2–0 in the Grand Final.
