Broods
Broods is a New Zealand musical duo from Nelson, composed of Georgia Josiena Nott on lead vocals, with older brother and multi-instrumentalist Caleb Allan Joseph Nott on production and backing vocals. They released the single "Bridges", which went to No. 8 on the New Zealand singles chart, and signed with Capitol and Polydor Records. They released their self-titled debut EP, ''Broods'', on 30 January 2014, which was followed by a full-length album, ''Evergreen'', on 22 August 2014. The band has toured with Ellie Goulding, Haim, Sam Smith, Tove Lo and Taylor Swift. They have won ten New Zealand Music Awards. On 24 June 2016, Broods released their second album, ''Conscious''. ''Evergreen'' is the debut studio album by New Zealand music duo Broods, which was released on 22 August 2014. Following the release of their self-titled EP, ''Broods'', earlier that year, the album includes two songs from that EP and the new single " Mother & Father". Upon its release, ''Evergreen'' debuted at number 1 on the New Zealand Albums Chart and was certified gold by Recorded Music NZ for sales exceeding 7,500 copies. Songs from the album were performed live during the first half of 2014. Produced by Joel Little, known for his work with fellow New Zealander Lorde, the album explores alternative pop music, with influences of indie genres. "Bridges" is a song by New Zealand band Broods, from their debut self-titled extended play. It was released as the band's first single by Dryden Street Records, Island Records Australia and Universal Music Australia on 3 January 2014. It is also included on their debut studio album, ''Evergreen'' (2014). Background and composition "Bridges" was written by Broods members Caleb and Georgia Nott and Joel Little. Georgia Nott conceived the song and recorded a demo, which was embellished by Little. "Bridges" is an indie pop and synthpop song, and contains piano and synth instrumentation. ''Don't Feed the Pop Monster'' is the third studio album by New Zealand duo Broods, released on 1 February 2019. Four singles, "Peach", "Everything Goes (Wow)", "Hospitalized", and "Falling Apart" were released prior to the album. The duo also began playing shows from November 2018 in support of the album. Background After the release of their 2016 album ''Conscious'', both Georgia and Caleb Nott took time off to pursue solo projects before reuniting in 2018, signing a new record deal with Neon Gold Records and releasing the lead single "Peach". Smokefreerockquest
Smokefreerockquest (SFRQ) is an annual music competition for intermediate and high school bands throughout New Zealand. The first Rockquest was held in 1988, and was organised by Christchurch radio station C93FM as a local event. The following year, school teachers Glenn Common and Pete Rainey formed Rockquest Promotions and by 1990 had made Rockquest a national event, with five regional finals and a national final. In 1991, Smokefree became a major sponsor, and the name became the Smokefreerockquest. Glenn Common and Pete Rainey now run Rockquest Promotions full-time out of Nelson. Smokefreerockquest is the only nationwide, live, all original, youth music event. Now into its third decade, Smokefreerockquest reaches audience numbers in excess of 24,000 every year. Garin College
Garin College is a New Zealand Catholic, integrated, co-educational day and boarding secondary school in Nelson on the northern outskirts of Richmond. The college opened on 28 January 2002 to serve the Catholic community, particularly in the upper South Island. Tove Lo
Ebba Tove Elsa Nilsson (born 29 October 1987), known professionally as Tove Lo (), is a Swedish singer and songwriter. She has been called "Sweden's darkest pop export" by ''Rolling Stone.'' NZ On Air (NZOA; mi, Irirangi te Motu), formally the Broadcasting Commission, is an autonomous Crown entity and commission of the New Zealand Government responsible for funding support for broadcasting and creative works.
