Bronzen Adhemar
The ''Bronzen Adhemar'' (Dutch for "Brass Adhemar") is the official Flemish Community Cultural Prize for Comics, given to a Flemish comics author for his body of work. It is awarded by the Flemish Ministry of Culture during Strip Turnhout, the major Flemish comics festival, once every two years. History Continuing the idea of a comics award given once in 1972, the prize was definitely installed by the makers of the magazine Ciso in 1977, "to emphasize and enhance the quality of Flemish comics". From 1979 on, the winner also got an exposition during the festival in Turnhout. The prize then changed from yearly to two-yearly. The organisation of the Award was transferred to the "Bronzen Adhemar Stichting" in 1991, and again to the Flemish Community in 2003, when a monetary prize of 12,500 Euro was added to the statue all winners received. Charel Cambré
Charel Cambré (born 27 April 1968 as Carl Cambré) is a Flemish Belgian comics artist and author. Biography Carl Cambré was born in 1968 in Herenthout. After his studies at the art school of Lier and animation at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (Ghent), Royal Academy of Ghent, he worked in some foreign animation studies, before he started creating comics. He lives in Nieuwrode, a part of Holsbeek. His first published comic was ''Streetkids'' in ''Suske & Wiske Weekblad'', which appeared from 1993 until 2003. Plunk
''Plunk'' is a Belgian comic series created by Luc Cromheecke and Laurent Letzer, and published by Dupuis. So far three albums have appeared. The comics are pantomime comic/gag-a-day short stories (most often between one and four pages long) about the misadventures of Plunk, a little pink alien with green trousers and a green hat from the planet Smurk. History Plunk was first created in the late 1980s for the Belgian Centre for Comic Strip Art as a fictional example of the merchandising that can be produced with successful comic figures like ''The Smurfs'' or ''Peanuts''. Biebel is the title character of a Flemish satirical comic strip series written by Marc Legendre, under the pseudonym of Ikke. It was created in 1983 for the magazine '' Robbedoes'' and was published until 2002. Biebel successfully appeared in 28 comic albums published by Standaard Uitgeverij, the first of which was released in 1985, and the series were also published in the magazine '' Suske en Wiske Weekblad''. Willy Linthout (born 1 May 1953) is a Belgian comics author, best known for the ''Urbanus'' comics and his graphic novel '' Years of the Elephant''. Biography Willy Linthout was born in Eksaarde near Lokeren, Belgium in 1953. He was a mechanic and a comics collector when he made his first comic book. Linthout had the idea of creating a comic strip whose main character would be based on the comedian Urbanus. Through publisher Jef Meert, a meeting at Urbanus' house was arranged. The comedian liked Linthout's idea, as well as the drawings. Linthout made the first two albums of ''Urbanus'' alone. Luc Cromheecke (born 2 August 1961), is a Belgium, Belgian comics artist best known for the comic series ''Tom Carbon'', ''Taco Zip'', ''Roboboy'' and ''Plunk''. Jozef "Jef" Nys (30 January 1927 – 20 October 2009) was a Belgian comic book creator. He was best known for his comic strip '' Jommeke''.
