Ann Brockman
Ann Brockman (1896–1943) was an American painter. An oil and watercolor painter, Brockman, who was known for her depictions of the landscape, the coastline, the figure, and animals, was born in Alameda, California in 1899. She studied with painters Gifford Beal and John Sloan at the Art Students League of New York. Over the years, she exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, in Philadelphia, and with the Society of Independent Artists, and Salons of America in New York City. She was an instructor at the Cape Ann School of Art at Rockport, Massachusetts, and spent much time painting in that location and on Cape Cod. She died in New York. Lani Brockman
Lani Brockman (born December 11, 1956 in Seattle) is an American theater actress and director. She is the founder and Artistic Director of Studio East. Brockman was born in Seattle and grew up in Hawaii. After working as an actress, and later as director of youth programs for Northwest Actors Studio, she founded Studio East in Kirkland, Washington in 1992. In partnership with Susan Bardsley, Brockman formed Dementia Unlimited to write original musical adaptations for young audiences. Titles include "3 Little Pigs", "Snow White", "Sleeping Beauty", "The Ugly Duckling", "Jack and the Beanstalk", "Little Red Riding Hood", "Hansel and Gretel", "Goldilocks and the 3 Bears", "Rumplestiltskin", "Cinderella", "The Emperor's New Clothes", and "Frog Prince". Brockman Building
The Brockman Building is a 12-story Beaux-Arts, Classical, and Romanesque Revival style building located on 7th Street in Downtown Los Angeles. History Built in 1912, the Brockman Building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009. The building was built in 1912 for John Brockman (1841-1925) and designed by George D. Barnett (1863-c. 1925) of Barnett, Haynes & Barnett. The Brockman Building was the first building west of the Broadway Commercial District to reach the city's 150-foot height limit. Brockman's move started a westward movement of the downtown commercial district and turned Seventh Street into the city's high-end retail district. Several department stores (including the original J.W. Robinson Co.) and office buildings were developed along Seventh Street after the Brockman Building was completed. In 1917 J. J. Colonel Thomas Patterson Brockman (December 4, 1797 – August 20, 1859) was an American merchant and planter in the Greenville District and also owned land in the Spartanburg District. He was born in the Greenville District (now Greenville County), South Carolina, the son of Susannah Patterson and Henry Brockman. According to the 1850 slave schedules, he possessed thirty slaves in Greenville. He was also a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives and the South Carolina Senate. Title of Colonel Brockman was listed as a noted member of the community in Greenville as early as 1831, when he served as a parade marshal on the Fourth of July, as appointed by Perry E. Duncan and committee. Tallulah Brockman Bankhead (January 31, 1902 – December 12, 1968) was an American actress. Primarily an actress of the stage, Bankhead also appeared in several prominent films including an award-winning performance in Alfred Hitchcock's ''Lifeboat'' (1944). She also had a brief but successful career on radio and made appearances on television. In all, Bankhead amassed nearly 300 film, stage, television and radio roles during her career. She was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame in 1972 and the Alabama Women's Hall of Fame in 1981. Shimshon Brokman (also "Brockman"; he, שמשון ברוקמן; born 16 September 1957) is an Israeli former Olympic sailor. Brokman and Eitan Friedlander won the 1972 420 International Yacht Racing Union (IYRU) Youth Sailing World Championship in West Germany, the gold medals in the 1979 470 European Championships in Spain and the 1980 420 World Championship in France, and a bronze medal in 1983 at the 470 World Championships. Vice-Admiral Sir Ronald Vernon Brockman (8 March 1909 – 3 September 1999) was a British senior officer of the Royal Navy. He served under Lord Mountbatten and participated in accepting the surrender of the Japanese Fleet in 1945. Sir Ronald was the elder son of Engineer Rear-Admiral Henry Stafford Brockman CB. He was descendant of the English Brockman family, and was Gentleman Usher to the Queen from 1967 to 1979.
