Broadway To Oz
Broadway to Oz was a 2015 concert tour by Australian actor, musician and dancer Hugh Jackman. He performed Broadway and Hollywood musical numbers backed by a company of 150 musicians and dancers. The concert show was produced by Dainty Group and Robert Fox Ltd. The show started in Melbourne on 24 November 2015, touring through Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide, before closing in Perth on 15 December, 2015. Peter Allen (born Peter Richard Woolnough; 10 February 1944 – 18 June 1992) was an Australian singer-songwriter, musician and entertainer, known for his flamboyant stage persona, boundless energy, and lavish costumes. His songs were made popular by many recording artists, including Elkie Brooks, Melissa Manchester and Olivia Newton-John, including Newton-John's first chart topping hit "I Honestly Love You", and the chart topping and Academy Award winning "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)" by Christopher Cross. "Soliloquy" is a 1945 song composed by Rogers, with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, written for their 1945 musical ''Carousel'', where it was introduced by John Raitt. Gordon MacRae performs the song in the 1956 film version. The now jobless carousel barker Billy Bigelow, the antihero of the musical, sings this seven-and-a-half-minute song just after he has learned he is about to become a father. In it, he happily daydreams over what it would be like to be a father to a boy, but midway through the song, he realizes that it could turn out to be a girl. The song immediately becomes more tender, as he begins to like the idea. At song's end, he considers that a girl needs the very best a father can offer, and decides to get money to provide for her.
