Broadway Daddies
''Broadway Daddies'' is a lost 1928 American silent melodrama film directed by Fred Windemere. It stars Jacqueline Logan, Alec B. Francis, Rex Lease, and was released on April 7, 1928. Plot Eve Delmar is a pretty chorus line dancer, who is the center of attention of a group of wealthy admirers. However, she develops feelings for Richard Kennedy, who she assumes is not wealthy, but simply ambitious. Little does she know that Richard is in fact quite wealthy, the son of millionaire John Lambert Kennedy. He chooses not to reveal his status, because he wants Eve to fall in love with him, and not with his money. When Eve finds out that Richard is wealthy, she feels that he was simply playing with her affections. To get back at him, she agrees to attend a party with another wealthy suitor, James Leech. ''Harrison's Reports'' was a New York City-based motion picture trade journal published weekly from 1919 to 1962. The typical issue was four letter-size pages sent to subscribers under a second-class mail permit. Its founder, editor and publisher was P. S. Harrison (1880–1966), who previously had been a reviewer for ''Motion Picture News'', in which his column was titled "Harrison’s Exhibitor Reviews". The first issue, dated 5 July 1919, stated that film advertising would not be accepted. A year's subscription cost $10. For more than a year, the type was set by a typewriter. The issue of 4 December 1920 and all subsequent issues were professionally typeset. Bessie Love (born Juanita Horton; September 10, 1898April 26, 1986) was an American-British actress who achieved prominence playing innocent, young girls and wholesome leading ladies in silent and early sound films. Her acting career spanned eight decades—from silent film to sound film, including theatre, radio, and television—and her performance in ''The Broadway Melody'' (1929) earned her a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress. Early life Love was born Juanita Horton in Midland, Texas, to John Cross Horton and Emma Jane Horton (' Savage). Her father was a cowboy and bartender, while her mother worked in and managed restaurants. Betty Francisco (born Elizabeth Barton; September 26, 1900 – November 25, 1950) was an American silent-film actress, appearing primarily in supporting roles. Her sisters Evelyn and Margaret were also actresses. Early years Francisco was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. As a child, she acted in stock theater companies. When she was older, she became an artists' model. Career Francisco is credited in more than 50 films from 1920 to 1934, after which it appears she retired from motion picture acting. Her first film credit was in the 1920 film ''A Broadway Cowboy''. Selected as one of the WAMPAS Baby Stars in 1923, she nevertheless continued to be cast in secondary roles and rarely played the lead.
