Broadway Bomb
The Broadway Bomb is a longboarding race held every year along the length of Broadway in Manhattan. The event was founded in October 2002 by Ian Nichols and Fred Mahe with an initial set of sixteen competitors. After growing in size every year, by 2018 more than 7,900 riders competed. The event is unsanctioned by the New York City, meaning that the race takes place in ordinary city traffic with no organized protection for riders, vehicles or pedestrians. When participation reached thousands of riders in 2012, the New York Supreme Court granted an injunction declaring the race unlawful. Since that time the New York City Police Department has deployed in force to prevent or disrupt the event. The element of danger involved with unsanctioned street racing is reflected in the race's slogan, ''You Could Die''. Skitching (abbreviated from "skate-hitching", pron: /ˈskɪtʃɪŋ/) is the act of hitching a ride by holding onto a motor vehicle while riding on a skateboard, roller skates, bicycle, or sneakers when there is snowfall. It is also sometimes referred to as bumper hitching, bumpershining, poggying, or bizzing, skidhopping, bumper jumping, hooky bobbing or bunking, the latter five referring primarily to the equivalent done on icy or snowy streets without a skateboard or roller skates. Longboarding
Longboarding is typically defined as a variation of skateboarding that involves a larger board and softer urethane wheels. Longboards vary in shape and size. Compared to skateboards, longboards are more stable at speed and have more traction, due to larger wheel size and lower wheel durometers. A taser is an electroshock weapon used to incapacitate people, allowing them to be approached and handled in an unresisting and thus safe manner. It is sold by Axon, formerly TASER International.
