Broad Front (Argentina)
The Broad Front (, FG) is a centre-left peronist political party in Argentina most prominent in the 1990s. The party is currently part of the former ruling Unión por la Patria coalition which supported Sergio Massa's presidential campaign. History The party was set up by a group of left-wing Justicialist Party members of the Argentine Chamber of Deputies, most notably Carlos Álvarez, and other left-wingers who were dissatisfied with the neo-liberal policies of President Carlos Menem, including dissident Christian Democrats led by Carlos Auyero and also figures such as Graciela Fernández Meijide. In 1990, the rebel Justicialists, having formed FredeJuSo, came together with the Communist Party of Argentina and others in a loose coalition. Álvarez proposed forming a unified party and dissolving the constituent members, thus automatically excluding the Communists, who left. In May 1993, they joined with '' Frente del Sur'', a party set up by film-maker Pino Solanas, ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Argentine
Argentines, Argentinians or Argentineans are people from Argentina. This connection may be residential, legal, historical, or cultural. For most Argentines, several (or all) of these connections exist and are collectively the source of their being Argentine. Argentina is a multiethnic society, home to people of various ethnic, racial, religious, denomination, and national origins, with the majority of the population made up of Old World immigrants and their descendants. As a result, Argentines do not equate their nationality with ethnicity, but with citizenship and allegiance to Argentina. Aside from the indigenous population, nearly all Argentines or their ancestors immigrated within the past five centuries. Among countries in the world that have received the most immigrants in modern history, Argentina, with 6.6 million, ranks second to the United States (27 million), and ahead of other immigrant destinations such as Canada, Brazil and Australia. Broad Front (Chilean Political Coalition)
The Frente Amplio (Spanish for Broad Front, FA) was a Chilean political coalition founded in early 2017, composed of left-wing parties and movements. Its first electoral contest was the 2017 Chilean general election, where their presidential candidate Beatriz Sánchez came third with 20% of the vote in the first round of election (she just missed getting to the second-round run-off by 3%). The Frente Amplio also expanded their electoral representation to 20 deputies (out of 155), 1 senator (out of 43) and 21 out of 278 Regional Councillors, thus consolidating the movement as the 'third force' in Chilean politics. In July 2024, its member parties merged into the new Frente Amplio (Chilean political party), Frente Amplio political party. Platform and ideology The Frente Amplio is mostly made up of left-wing political parties that aim to change the current political situation of Chile in favor of participative democracy and feminism. Broad Front (Chilean Political Party)
The Frente Amplio (Spanish for Broad Front, FA) is a Chilean left-wing political party and founded in 2024 as a result of the merger of Frente Amplio (Chilean political coalition), the former coalition of the same name. Platform and ideology The Frente Amplio was formed as a result of the merger of left-wing political parties that aimed to change the political situation of Chile in favor of participative democracy and feminism. Some reports consider their ideology close to populism due to the fact that the coalition was built off of existing popular movements (such as the 2011 Chilean protests, 2011 student movement). Although it has the same name as the Frente Amplio (Uruguay), center-left coalition from Uruguay, political analysts tend to see the Frente Amplio as more similar to the Spanish left-wing populist party Podemos (Spanish political party), Podemos. 2017 presidential primary candidate Alberto Mayol highlighted the fact that a clear "leftist tradition" exists in most ...
