Mark Brnovich (born 1966) is an American attorney and politician who served as the 26th Attorney General of Arizona from 2015 to 2023. A member of the Republican Party, he was an unsuccessful candidate for its nomination in the 2022 U.S. Senate election in Arizona. He is married to Susan Brnovich, a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the District of Arizona. Early life and education Brnovich was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1966. His parents were Serbs who had immigrated from former Yugoslavia, his father from Montenegro, and his mother from Split, Croatia. He has said that his mother emigrated to the United States to escape communism. Brnovich and his family moved to Arizona when he was young. They attend a local Serbian Orthodox parish in Phoenix. Susan Brnovich
Susan Marie Skibba Brnovich (born June 6, 1968) is a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the District of Arizona. Biography Brnovich earned her Bachelor of Business Administration, Master of Science, and Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Brnovich began her legal career by serving as a prosecutor with the Maricopa County Attorney's Office. During her eight years as a prosecutor, Brnovich tried 49 jury trials and one bench trial. In 2003, she became a commissioner on the Maricopa County Superior Court, where she presided over numerous criminal jury trials over the next five years. Brnovich was appointed by Governor of Arizona Janet Napolitano as a trial court judge in January 2009 and was retained by voters in both 2012 and 2016.
