Britton Chance
Britton "Brit" Chance (July 24, 1913 – November 16, 2010) was an American biochemist, biophysicist, scholar, and inventor whose work helped develop spectroscopy as a way to diagnose medical problems. He was "a world leader in transforming theoretical science into useful biomedical and clinical applications" and is considered "the founder of the biomedical photonics." He received the National Medal of Science in 1974. He also was an Olympic athlete who won a gold medal for the United States at the 1952 Summer Olympics in the 5.5 Metre Class. Early life and education Chance was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. His parents were Eleanor Kent and Edwin Mickley Chance, president of United Engineers and Constructors, Inc which built power plants. Britton Douglas Colquitt (born March 20, 1985) is an American football punter who is a free agent. He was originally signed by the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent in December 2009. He played college football at Tennessee. Britton is the son of former NFL punter Craig Colquitt, younger brother of Cleveland Browns punter Dustin Colquitt, and nephew of former NFL punter Jimmy Colquitt. Early years Colquitt played football, basketball and soccer at Bearden High School in Knoxville, Tennessee. College career Colquitt played college football for the Tennessee Volunteers at the University of Tennessee, where he majored in political science. Britton Weaver Johnsen (born July 8, 1979) is an American retired professional basketball player who played briefly in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He graduated from Murray High School and the University of Utah. Born in Salt Lake City, his hometown is Murray, Utah. Johnsen is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. College career Johnsen played college basketball with the University of Utah's Utah Utes.
