Brittany Persaud
Brittany Persaud (born 1 April 1990) is an American-born Guyanese footballer who plays as a forward for Westside Timbers FC, and recently played for Portland Thorns FC of the American National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). Persaud has been a member of the Guyana women's national team. She played college soccer for Dayton and Wright State. College career At Wright State, Persaud was the all-time leader in assists with 24 during her three-year Raider career, and eighth in points with 56 (16 goals, 24 assists) and shots attempted with 146. Club career Persaud played for the Swedish team Kungsbacka DFF in 2012. The Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) is an amateur women's soccer league in the United States and Canada. It is the top amateur league for women's soccer in the United States soccer pyramid, below only National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). Leonora, Guyana
Leonora is a village in Essequibo Islands-West Demerara (Region 3), one of Guyana's 10 regions. Its subdivisions are Pasture, Sea Field, Para Field, Groenveldt and Sea Spray. The neighboring villages are Anna Catherina and Uitvlugt. Leonora encompasses an area of about , once part of the Parish of St. Luke. It stretches from Edinburgh in the east to Stewartville in the west, and from the Atlantic Ocean in the north, to the south as far as the West Demerara Water Conservancy. Leonora was named after the historical 7,942 acre Leonora sugar plantation, which operated from before 1789 until the Leonora Estate sugar factory was closed down in December 1986. Synthetic Track And Field Facility
The Synthetic Track and Field Facility in Leonora, Guyana is a 3000-seat multi-sport facility that is used by football club Slingerz FC as their home stadium. It is also used to host youth sports events. In 2018, it hosted six matches of the 2018 CONCACAF Women's Championship qualification, three featuring Guyana and three featuring other teams. Construction Costing approximately G$1.084 billion (US$ million), the facility officially began construction in December 2010 and was split into two phases. Phase one consisted of drain and irrigation works and the main access road, whilst Phase two consisted of making the actual track and other sports fields. 2018 CFU Women's Challenge Series
The 2018 CFU Women's Challenge Series was a football competition in the Caribbean region, held amongst the women's national teams whose football associations are affiliated with the Caribbean Football Union (CFU), a sub-confederation of CONCACAF. The competition was announced by the CFU in March 2018. It is the third women's competition organized by the CFU, after the 2000 CFU Women's Caribbean Cup and the 2014 CFU Women's Caribbean Cup. The Providence Stadium or Guyana National Stadium is a sports stadium in Guyana, replacing Bourda as the national stadium. The stadium was built specifically to host Super Eight matches in the 2007 Cricket World Cup held in March and April 2007.
