The British Swimming Championships - 1,500 metres freestyle winners formerly the ( Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) National Championships) are listed below. The event was originally contested over the mile and then 1,650 yards and then switched to the metric conversion of 1,500 metres in 1971. Swim England is the national governing body for swimming, diving, water polo, open water swimming, and synchronised swimming in England. It forms part of British Swimming, a federation of the national governing bodies of England, Scotland ( Scottish Amateur Swimming Association), and Wales ( Welsh Amateur Swimming Association). Kevin Boyd
Kevin Thomas Boyd (born 23 June 1966) is an English former competitive swimmer who represented Great Britain in the Olympics and World University Games, and England in the Commonwealth Games, during the 1980s. He competed internationally in freestyle swimming events. Swimming career Boyd attended Hymers College in Hull and, along with elder brother Steven, joined the local swimming club Hull Olympic in 1972. He soon became a proficient swimmer at local and county level in backstroke events, before switching to freestyle in his teens. He joined the Borough of South Tyneside swimming club in 1984 after beginning his degree in medicine at Newcastle University. He competed in the 400-metre freestyle and the 1500-metre freestyle at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, finishing 7th in both finals. Danielle Huskisson (born 27 March 1993) is a British swimmer, specialising in open water events. She competed in the women's 10 km event at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships The 2019 World Aquatics Championships were the 18th FINA World Aquatics Championships, held in Gwangju, South Korea from 12 to 28 July 2019. Stephen Milne (born 29 April 1994) is a Scottish swimmer who competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Personal life Milne was born on 29 April 1994 in Inverness, Scotland, United Kingdom. He went to school at Perth Academy and is now studying at Perth College, University of the Highlands and Islands, for a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science. Swimming Milne competed at the 2012 European Junior Swimming Championships, held in Antwerp, Belgium. Jazmin Roxy "Jazz" Carlin (born 17 September 1990) is a former British competitive swimmer, who previously represented Wales and the Great Britain swimming team. She competed primarily in endurance freestyle events, and was based at the University of Bath. She won gold for Wales at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, double gold for Great Britain in the 400 metres and 800 metres freestyle at both the 2014 European Championships (long course) and the 2015 European Championships (short course) before winning two silver medals for Great Britain in the same events behind Katie Ledecky at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Keri-anne Payne (born 9 December 1987), also known by her married name Keri-anne Carry, is a South African-born British swimmer, specialising in marathon open water swimming, and long-distance freestyle swimming in the pool. She is a two-time 10-kilometre open water world champion, and an Olympic silver medallist. Daniel Lee Fogg (born 24 August 1987) is an English competitive swimmer who has represented Great Britain in the Olympics, World and European Championships as well as England in the Commonwealth Games. Daniel Fogg specialises in the 1500-metre freestyle and open water swimming events. Early career Daniel started his career swimming for London Borough of Waltham Forest (Gators) Swimming Club, representing the club at all levels, also captaining the club. David Michael Rhys Davies (born 3 March 1985) is a Welsh former competitive swimmer who has represented Wales at the Commonwealth Games, and swam for Great Britain at Summer Olympics, world championships and European championships, winning medals in each of those major international championships. Davies specialised in long-distance freestyle and open water events. Swimming career Cooke represented Great Britain in the Olympics, FINA world championships and European championships, and England in the Commonwealth Games. She competed internationally in freestyle and individual medley swimming events. She has won medals at every major international championships with the exception of the Olympic Games. She won the ASA National Championship 800 metres freestyle title for six consecutive years from 2000 until 2005. She retired from international competition in April 2008 after failing to make the British team for the 2008 Games in Beijing.
