British Swimming Championships (50m) 2014
The British Gas Swimming Championships (50 m) 2014 were held at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre, Glasgow from 10–15 April 2014. They also doubled as the first trials for the 2014 Commonwealth Games. They were organised by British Swimming and sponsored by British Gas. Tollcross International Swimming Centre
The Tollcross International Swimming Centre is a swimming pool and leisure centre in Glasgow. It hosted the Swimming events at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. The centre hosted the IPC Swimming World Championships during July 2015. Technical features It has one Olympic standard 50 metre swimming pool, which was extensively upgraded, and a second 50-metre pool which was added as a warm-up facility. The pool was reopened on 24 May 2013. The seating capacity of the Pool is 2,000, rising to 5,000 with temporary seating during the Commonwealth Games. Amy Smith (swimmer)
Amy Louis Smith (born 24 July 1987 in Kidderminster, Worcestershire) is a British swimmer. Smith was at the pinnacle of sprinting for British women and a member of the national swim team for a decade. She had a busy programme at the 2012 Summer Olympics where she competed for the Great British team in the Women's 4 x 100 metre freestyle relay, finishing in 5th place in the final. She also competed in the Women's 50 metre freestyle winning her heat swim off to qualify for the semi-final. She also made the semi-final for the Women's 100 metre freestyle but did not advance and swam the freestyle leg of the Women's 4 x 100 metre medley relay in the heat stage. Francesca Jean Halsall (born 12 April 1990) is a retired English competitive swimmer who has represented Great Britain at the Olympics, FINA world championships, and European championships, and England at the Commonwealth Games. She competed primarily in freestyle and butterfly events. Halsall was the youngest member of the Team England swim squad at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, where she won silver medals in the 4×100-metre freestyle and 4×100-metre medley relays. Joseph 'Joe' Roebuck (born 4 June 1985 in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England) is an English swimmer. , Roebuck is tall and weighs . He is coached by Ian Armiger at Loughborough University, where he also studies Sports Science. At the 2005 British Swimming Championships Roebuck won a silver medal in both the 200 and 400 metres individual medleys; in 2006 he took gold in both of the medley events and also won gold in the 200 metres butterfly. Roberto Pavoni (born 22 March 1991) is an English former competitive swimmer who represented Great Britain in various international championships. At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, he finished 13th overall in the heats in the Men's 400 metre individual medley and failed to reach the final. He also competed in the 200m butterfly, again failing to reach the final.
