The British Soap Award for Outstanding Achievement is an award presented annually by the British Soap Awards, formerly known as the Lifetime Achievement award until 2013. The winner is decided by a panel and celebrates the soap career and achievements of each recipient. ''Coronation Street'' and ''EastEnders'' are the most awarded soaps in the category, each holding eight wins. '' Brookside'', '' Hollyoaks'' and '' Emmerdale'' have also won once. Mark Charnock
Mark Charnock (born 28 August 1968) is an English actor, known for his role in ITV's ''Emmerdale'' as Marlon Dingle, a role he has played since 1996. Charnock and ''Emmerdale'' co-star Dominic Brunt, who plays Paddy Kirk, produce a yearly ''Zombie Film Festival'' in the Leeds Cottage Road Cinema. Early life Charnock was born on 28 August 1968, and was educated at Canon Slade School, Hull University and Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. With fellow ''Emmerdale'' co-star Dominic Brunt, he hosted Leeds' first ever zombie festival on 20 April 2008. Barbara Knox
Barbara Knox, MBE (''née'' Brothwood, formerly Mullaney; born 30 September 1933) is an English actress, best known for her long-running portrayal of Rita Tanner in the ITV soap opera ''Coronation Street''. She first appeared as Rita Littlewood for one episode in December 1964, before returning to the show as a full-time cast member in January 1972. Knox is currently the second longest-serving cast member in the show. The character of Rita is one of the most beloved and iconic characters on any British soap opera. Pauline Fowler
Pauline Fowler is a fictional character from the BBC One soap opera ''EastEnders''. She was played by actress Wendy Richard between the first episode on 19 February 1985 and 25 December 2006. Wendy Richard
Wendy Richard (born Wendy Emerton; 20 July 1943 – 26 February 2009) was an English actress, known for her television roles as Miss Shirley Brahms on the BBC sitcom ''Are You Being Served?'' from 1972 to 1985, and Pauline Fowler on the soap opera ''EastEnders'' from 1985 to 2006. Despite being known for her Cockney accent, Richard was born in Middlesbrough. After a childhood in which her father died by suicide, Richard worked in department stores to pay her drama school fees before appearing regularly on-screen from the early 1960s. Mike Baldwin (Coronation Street)
Michael Vernon "Mike" Baldwin is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera ''Coronation Street'', portrayed by Johnny Briggs. Johnny Briggs (actor)
John Ernest Briggs (5 September 1935 – 28 February 2021) was an English actor. He was known for his role as Mike Baldwin in the soap opera '' Coronation Street'', in which he appeared from 1976 to 2006. Early life Briggs was born in Battersea, south-west London, on 5 September 1935. His father was a master carpenter. He was evacuated from London during the Blitz campaign of World War II. He was awarded a scholarship to train at the Italia Conti Academy stage school when he was 12 years old. There, he learned alongside Millicent Martin, Nanette Newman and Anthony Newley. Career One of Briggs' first acting roles was in '' Quartet'' (1948), alongside George Cole. Dot Branning
Dorothy "Dot" Branning (also Cotton) is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera, '' EastEnders'', played by June Brown. In a special episode entitled ''EastEnders: Dot's Story'' (2003) a young Dot was played by Tallulah Pitt-Brown in flashbacks. A tragicomic character, Dot was known for her devout Christian faith, gossiping, chain smoking, hypochondria, and motherly attitude to those in need.
