Brita Sailer
Brita J. Sailer (born 1953) is a Minnesota politician and a former member of the Minnesota House of Representatives who represented District 2B, which includes all or portions of Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard, Pennington and Polk counties in the northwestern part of the state. A Democrat, she is an art teacher, freelance artist and consultant. Sailer was first elected in 2004, and was re-elected in 2006 and 2008. She was unseated by Republican Dave Hancock in the 2010 general election. She was a member of the House Environment Policy and Oversight Committee, and was vice chair of the Environment Policy and Oversight Subcommittee for the Game, Fish and Forestry Division. She also served on the Commerce and Labor Subcommittee for the Telecommunications Regulation and Infrastructure Division, and on the Finance subcommittees for the Energy Finance and Policy Division and the Housing Finance and Policy and Public Health Finance Division. David A. Hancock (born April 25, 1945) is a Minnesota politician and former member of the Minnesota House of Representatives. A member of the Republican Party of Minnesota, he represented District 2A in northwestern Minnesota. Early life, education, and career Hancock attended Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in History in 1968. He enlisted in the United States Army from 1969–1971, serving as an operating room technician and combat medic at Fort Sill near Lawton, Oklahoma. He also taught 8th grade American History and 9th grade Civics at Conrad Ball Junior High School in Loveland, Colorado from 1968–1969 and 1971–1972. Polk County is a county in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Minnesota. Its population was 31,192 at the 2020 census. Its county seat is Crookston, and the largest community is East Grand Forks. Polk County is part of the Grand Forks, ND-MN metropolitan statistical area.
