''Bristol-Myers Tele-Varieties'' is a TV series broadcast locally in New York beginning in December 1946, and then began broadcasting on the NBC Television Network on January 5, 1947, on Sunday evenings from 8:15 to 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time. The show, including interviews of celebrities, was hosted by the wife-and-husband team of Jinx Falkenburg and Tex McCrary. In March 1947 it was moved to 8 to 8:15 p.m. E. T. on Sundays, and it ended on April 13, 1947. The program was an adaptation of the ''Hi Jinx'' radio program. ''Bristol-Myers Tele-Varieties'' was an adaptation of the ''Hi Jinx'' radio program. It replaced '' Geographically Speaking''. Wes McKee was the producer, and Roger Muir was the director. Jinx Falkenburg
Eugenia Lincoln "Jinx" Falkenburg (January 21, 1919 – August 27, 2003) was an American actress and model. She married journalist and publicist Tex McCrary in 1945.Autobiography: Jinx, Jinx Falkenburg, Duell, Sloan and Pearce (1951) Known as "Tex and Jinx", the couple pioneered and popularized the talk show format, first on radio and then in the early days of television. They hosted a series of interview shows in the late 1940s and early 1950s that combined celebrity chit-chat with discussions of important topics of the day. Early life Falkenburg was born to American parents in Barcelona, Spain; her father Eugene "Genie" Lincoln Falkenburg was an engineer for Westinghouse. Tex McCrary
John Reagan "Tex" McCrary Jr. (October 13, 1910 – July 29, 2003) was an American journalist and public relations specialist who popularized the talk show genre for television and radio along with his wife, Jinx Falkenburg, with whom he hosted the first radio talk show, ''Meet Tex and Jinx'', as well as the radio show ''Hi Jinx'' and the television talk shows ''At Home'' and ''The Swift Home Service Club''. Life and career McCrary was born in Calvert, Texas. He graduated from the Phillips Exeter Academy in 1928 and from Yale University in 1932, where he served as chairman of campus humor magazine ''The Yale Record''. He was a member of both Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity and Skull and Bones, where his club nickname was "Sancho Panza". ''Geographically Speaking'' was an American travel series that debuted on June 9, 1946, on NBC, and aired Sundays at 8:15 pm EST immediately following the game show '' Face to Face''. Originating at WNBT-TV in New York City, the weekly 15-minute program was one of the first TV shows to have a regular sponsor, Bristol-Myers. The show consisted of hostess Zetta Wells narrating her home movies of her trips with her husband Carveth Wells to unusual and exotic places. When she ran out of home movies, the series ended in December 1946.
